Timberlake and Affleck, teaming up for online gambling. Was this a duo you thought you'd ever see acting together? Variety reports that New Regency has officially set Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck to star in Runner Runner, an upcoming dramatic thriller from a script by, of course, Rounders writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien (of Walking Tall, Ocean's 13, Solitary Man). The project has Brad Furman (of The Lincoln Lawyer) attached to direct and is set in the "$30 billion world of illegal online gambling." Honestly, I'm very intrigued already, with this cast and that story, I'm looking forward to this. Read on!
While it doesn't sound like this has anything to do with Rounders 2, the storyline as described by Deadline states it "revolves around the world of offshore online gaming and an increasingly tense relationship between a business founder and his protege." So who is playing who? Timberlake the protege, perhaps? We'll have to find out more details. Production is set to begin in June this year, with New Regency and Appian Way's Leonardo DiCaprio & Jennifer Davisson Killoran, Double Feature's Michael Shamberg & Stacey Sher and Stone Village's Scott Steindorff producing. 20th Century Fox will distribute. This definitely sounds interesting, I love tales that involve gambling and the risks that come from all of that. Stay tuned.
