Earlier this month it was said that Oscar winner Jean Dujardin was being eyed for a supporting role in George Clooney's historical heist film Monuments Men. Confirmation has yet to come through on that, but THR has word on another prime actor for the film as Bill Murray is now attached to the project. In addition, Cate Blanchett (who was mentioned in the same story about Dujardin), has been confirmed as the female lead in the story of a hand-picked group of art experts chosen by the United States government to retrieve artwork stolen by the Nazis. Clooney is directing, writing and starring in the film as well. Read on!
Paul Giamatti was mentioned in our last story as well, but no word on his casting. Meanwhile, Clooney is playing George Stout, a U.S. Army officer and leading art conservationist, who repatriated tens of thousands of pieces of art from the Nazis. He's also co-writing the film (an adaptation of Robert M. Edsel's book of the same name) with Good Night and Good Luck co-writer and producing partner Grant Heslov. As for the rest of the talent mentioned or attached, the characters have not been defined. However, Fox and Sony Pictures are collaborating on the film, so with two monster studios teaming up, a great cast should be finalized very soon. but Murray working with Clooney on a film like this sounds superb already.
