'Bill & Ted' Sequel Moving Forward with 'Galaxy Quest' Director Now

It has been nearly two years since we last heard anything about a gestating to sequel to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, but it sounds like the time has finally come. Vulture has word that the Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are ready to come back for the sequel, and the original franchise creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson now have Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot attached to helm the flick. The best thing about this sequel is that the studio wasn't digging around for a remake, sequel or reboot, and Matheson and Solomon wrote it on spec before trying to drum up interest.
However, right now it's not clear where the film will set up shop. MGM owns the rights to Bill & Ted, but they're not exactly in the best shape to get this project going. Of course, with remakes of Red Dawn and RoboCop finally seeing action, it's not out of the question for them to revive the property for their own gain. Vulture also points out that MGM let a remake of the 80's flick Valley Girl head to another studio while still co-financing, so that's what could happen with Bill & Ted as well. Either way, we're still going to be waiting a little while as Parisot is already slated to direct the sequel to RED, and that doesn't start shooting until the spring of 2013. Please, let all of the right pieces come together in order to get this reunion. And if it goes well, maybe we can finally getWayne's World 3 on the way too.

And Keanu Reeves can still play the part because he doesn't age. Like seriously. But really seriously, the guy who directed the terrible 'Galaxy Quest'?

Mithun is a fucking moron. He is probably too busy throwing acid in the faces of lower caste women who talk to someone of a higher caste. Fuck off.

Terrible? Who doesn't like "Galaxy Quest"? That said, not sure there's much interest in a new Bill & Ted film...but I'm curious at the very least.

That is best news I've heard all day!!! It'll be crazy to see Keanu and Alex return to their respective roles. They are gonna be old men, nooooo way!!!!!! I am definitely looking forward to this sequel.

I've been waiting for this bit of good news for quite some time. That said, I think they need to begin regenerating some interest in the franchise again. Some savvy marketing will ensure that this movie gets the buzz and viewership it deserves. (also, Galaxy Quest was a surprise hit for me. Anyone who knocks it most likely hasn't bothered to watch it to begin with. Keep an open mind)

Same here. I never had interest in Galaxy Quest when it came out, thought it looked retarded. When it came out on video (wow, video) a friend made me watch it, and it was damned enjoyable! (And Big Trouble in Little China is one of the greatest films ever, nice pic!)
