"Very few guys know me…" The Weinstein Co. has unveiled the first badass trailer for Andrew Dominik's Killing Them Softly, formerly known as Cogan's Trade, a crime flick starring Brad Pitt as "professional enforcer" Jackie Cogan. This premiered at Cannes and earned plenty of praise from critics; I recommend it purely because of Dominik. Scoot McNairy (Monsters) and Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises) star as the two sleazy robbers, along with James Gandolfini as another hitman, plus Richard Jenkins in there, too. I've got a feeling many people are going to go crazy over this trailer, it's awesome. Must watch!
Here's the first official trailer for Andrew Dominik's Killing Them Softly, debuted on HuffPo:
Killing Them Softly, based on George V. Higgins' crime novel Cogan's Trade, follows Jackie Cogan (Brad Pitt), an enforcer who investigates a heist that takes place during a high stakes poker game perpetrated by two junkies played by Scoot McNairy (Monsters) and Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom). Andrew Dominik (Chopper, Assassination of Jesse James) both writes & directs the film which also features Casey Affleck, Sam Rockwell, Richard Jenkins (Let Me In), Ray Liotta (GoodFellas) and more. This first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and The Weinstein Co. will be releasing it starting on October 19th this fall. You in?

Looks pretty rad! Kind of bummed to see Liotta getting pushed around and beaten up though. Will definitely have to check this out.

Dear Andrew Dominik: DIRECT MORE FILMS! This looks very interesting. I love character analysis. I also enjoy intercourse, but character analysis is a close 2nd.

Looks absolutely fabulous and is a must see for me! Got a classical potential and Brad Pitt is always great!

I expected with all the talk about Brad Pitt's character being a sociopath that he would be less talkative and more intense. It doesn't mean what he's doing doesn't look good, but hey, I think he's pretty comfortable doing this type of character

Can't wait. Hoping the director goes three for three. Pitt needs another badass roll, but it's odd how he looks out of place. I think his star power and personality is hindering his effectiveness at playing any man.

Man, Brad Pitt just seems to get better and better with age. If this movie ends up being even half as good as The Assassination of Jesse James, it will still be classes better than 90% of movies that have been released in recent years. Everything about Jesse James was perfect. The script, the acting, the cinematography, ugh...the score! Absolutely fantastic. Such a shame that it got so criminally overlooked. Do it again, Dominik!
