Broken Lizard Keeps Trying with First Trailer for 'Freeloaders' Comedy

After having pretty much every film be a failure since Super Troopers, I'm not sure why the Broken Lizard name endures. More than likely, there are audiences out there who make the low budget comedies profitable when they pick up the DVD from the bargain bin. Now we have the trailer for the latest comedy with the Broken Lizard name slapped on it: Freeloaders. The film features Olivia Munn, Jane Seymour and Nat Faxon (who has been doing great on Fox's "Ben and Kate") and follows a group of slackers living for free in a rock star's mansion only to find their sweet lives threatened when the musician tries to sell his pad.
Here's the first trailer for Broken Lizard's new comedy Freeloaders, originally from ET:
Dan Rosen (Dead Man's Curve) directs Freeloaders from a script he wrote with newcomer David Gibbs. The film follows five slacker guys and a girl who live in the lap of luxury in the mansion of Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz (playing himself). But their sweet situation is threatened when he finally decides to sell the extravagant home. Clifton Collins Jr., Josh Lawson, Kevin Sussman, Zoe Boyle, Nat Faxon, Warren Hutchinson, Jane Seymour, Olivia Munn and Dave Foley all star in the Broken Lizard film that is slated to hit VOD services on December 11th and limited theaters sometime in January of 2013. Any laughs?
Straight to Video Productions brings you another gem. Remember the guys that wrote and starred in that movie no one thought would be funny? Turns out it was. It was about cops, or something. Anyway, it had some highly-quotable lines that quickly became internet memes. The plot didn't matter. Well, anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, they're back with their fourth attempt to make that happen again! SPOILER: It doesn't happen this time either.

This made me sad because I really like these guys and want them to succeed. Maybe Super Troopers 2 will be their rebirth.

Oof, this looks awful.

In fairness, Jay Chandrasekhar has been killing it as a TV director recently. Alas, he seems to have no behind-the-camera involvement with this one.

Its a shame they've never been able to recapture the perfection of Super Troopers. Personally, I love these guys, they always make me laugh, but I guess its hard to top your own classic. This doesn't look great, but I'm sure it'll be funny. Plus, Clifton Collins Jr. (or Clifton Gonzalez Gonzalez, depending on which film you're watching) is always good!

I liked Beerfest, and stupid comedy it's better than some pretended intellectual movie....

The only utter and complete FAIL I personally think these guys did was Club Dred. That movie was so unfunny it made me angry. Since then though all the movies have had cheap laughs you see coming froma mile away but it doesn't hurt anyone. Slammin Salmon and Babymakers were underrated I think, yeah its not intellectual laughs and the laughs may not even hit too hard but they are feel good comedies that I can still enjoy, I can't say Im running to the Box Office for this one, but Im gonna see it.

I'm not sure they even know what made Super Troopers so funny... Beerfest was pretty good, but other than those two, Broken Lizard is a stink factory.
