Charming CG Character Art Sets from Pixar's 'Monsters University'

One of the many reasons I'm very excited about the summer of 2013 line-up is this new Pixar movie, Monsters University, a prequel to their 2001 hit Monsters Inc. It's arriving in late June of 2013 and we've already seen one set of teaser trailers so far. At D23 last year, Pixar did a presentation on how they've redesigned the look of the two main monsters, Mike and Sulley. Now our friends at Upcoming Pixar (via ComingSoon) have found a fantastic set of "new CG renders from the film". The fanciful simple character art sets feature Mike, Sulley, and newcomer monsters like Art, Terry & Terri, Don and Squishy. Check ’em out!

I'm excited to meet & find out who these monsters are and how they fit in, especially Squishy and his Mom.

A look at the relationship between monsters Mike (voiced by Billy Crystal) and Sulley (voiced by John Goodman) during their days at the University of Fear -- when they weren't necessarily the best of friends.

Pixar's Monsters University is being directed by Dan Scanlon, who went from animator to storyboard artist to writer to co-director on Mater and the Ghostlight, making his feature directorial debut. This is a prequel to Pixar's animated movie Monsters Inc, originally released in November of 2001. Disney has Monsters University scheduled for release in Digital 3D everywhere June 21st, 2013 next summer. Visit MU.com.
