Chris Rock

It seems like everyone is keen on teaming up with Melissa McCarthy after her turn in Bridesmaids last year, which just won her an Oscar nomination last month. Jason Bateman will do Identity Theft with the comedienne later this year and there's been talk of a few more projects with Jon Hamm and The Help director Tate Taylor. Now 24 Frames has word that Chris Rock is looking to get McCarthy into a marriage comedy that he's writing that would see the actress playing his wife as part of a "Jerry Springer couple." However, McCarthy isn't officially involved in the project just yet as Rock says, "I'm trying to romance her."

Rock is fresh off a great romantic comedy with 2 Days in New York opposite Julie Delpy. The two have fast and fantastic chemistry, so I'd love to see how Rock fares with McCarthy as his lover. Either way, we'll likely see more work from Rock very soon as he's apparently writing several other project, including a script where he would play a stand-up comedian (something that doesn't always work out for real comedians) not to mention new material for a real stand-up tour. As long as Rock keeps this busy, maybe he'll do less awful things with Adam Sandler, like that developing, unnecessary sequel to Grown Ups.

Sounds cool, but I am afraid of McCarthy getting "Seth Rogen'ed". Hopefully she'll be smart.

I don't get it. She did one movie. Now Entertainment dubs her "The Queen of Comedy". Yeah, she was pretty funny. She can make fun of herself for not being what is considered attractive, that's good. But she is going to get overexposed, and it will be the same thing over and over again. Kirsten Wiig is more worthy of that "title". Plenty of other women out there who I think are hilarious and more deserving of the attention. Sorry for the rant, just my opinion.  Anyway, my best to her. I just don't get it.
