Christian Bale Returning to 'American Bullshit' for David O. Russell

Back in April, we learned that Christian Bale would reunite with The Fighter director David O. Russell for the film formerly known as American Bullshit. But the currently untitled ensemble drama had to replace the actor with Jeremy Renner in July. But now everyone wins as a press release reveals that Renner is still in the project, and Bale is returning for the film which sees him as a con man who masterminded an FBI sting operation of Congress in 1980. Bradley Cooper and Amy Adams are also reuniting with Russell in the film featuring an original script from The International screenwriter Eric Warren Singer. More below!
The film tells the true story of a notorious financial con artist (Bale) and his mistress/partner in crime (Adams), who were forced to work with an out of control federal agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con artists, mobsters, and politicians. At the epicenter of the entire tale, is the passionate and volatile leader of the New Jersey state assembly (Renner) who is also the local hero and mayor of impoverished Camden. Aside from the compelling story, surely Atlas Entertertainment founder and Dark Knight trilogy producer Charles Roven had a hand in keeping Bale on the project. Columbia Pictures will release the film late in 2013, and I'm betting with a cast like this working with Russell will round up some Oscar love.
