Colin Firth & Alan Rickman in Coen Brothers Scripted 'Gambit' Trailer

We've gotten a first look photo and a batch of character posters for the Coen Brothers scripted remake of the 1966 caper flick Gambit from director Michael Hoffman (The Last Station), but now we finally have the first trailer from our friends across the pond. The film hits theaters in the UK this fall, so it's time to get the word out overseas, but the film starring Colin Firth, Alan Rickman and Cameron Diaz still doesn't have an official release date here in the US yet. It's a good thing the trailer makes note of a script by Joel and Ethan Coen, because otherwise this looks a bit messy, right down to the terrible voiceover. Watch below?

Here's the first full UK trailer for Michael Hoffman's Gambit, originally from MSN UK:

In Gambit, Private art curator Harry Deane (Colin Firth) devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England's richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, (Alan Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting. In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Cameron Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII. Michael Hoffman (The Last Station) directs and The Coen Brothers wrote the film (a remake of the 1966 film starring Michael Caine) which hits UK theaters on November 21st this year, and hits US theaters sometime early in 2013. Well?

The trailer makes it look goofy as hell, a lot like the trailer for BURN AFTER READING.

They had me at Coen Brothers. Yeah I know they only wrote the screenplay but that's enough to get the benefit of the doubt from me.

I love the cast and the writers so I'll give this a shot. I do wonder why the Coens chose not to direct this though.

i'm liking this a lot. firth and rickman are always great - and diaz playingthat type of character is a safe bet - she doesn't have to try to hard to pull it off. a definite watch for me.

Love Rickman. Great Actor Without Any Doubt. Nothing to do with this but without Severus Snape Potter was Ghatter (i know you dont know what is ghatter! that is some kind of animal in my language) and unfortunately they cant make it unforgettable in the last pic. What Pity for me

I love Stanley Tucci. Even if he's only in a trailer for one second. That is all.
