COMIC-CON 2012
Comic-Con 2012: Our First Batch of Preview Night Showfloor Photos
by Alex Billington
July 11, 2012
It is my tradition to kick off Comic-Con by walking the showfloor on preview night and taking photos of anything movie-related that interests me. This year there seems to be a lot of the same booths, statues and setups as years' past, but as always there's some new stuff to be found on the massive convention center showfloor. I made my way through the crowds and snapped as many shots as I could before ducking out, but there will certainly be more to come at the end (as we always do a wrap-up piece as well). For now, take a look at our exclusive gallery, including photos of Marvel's Iron Man armory and The Hobbit goodies galore.
Here's the big Marvel booth this year - a look at the complete armory from Iron Man 3! Better photo here.
Disney built an entire booth for "The Art of Tim Burton's Frankenweenie" - a few quick photos inside:
This is Q's boat on display at the Bond 50 booth. A new Bond vehicle will be on display every single day:
Some of the wonderful Hobbit setups, these first few are from the Weta booth and their products/displays:
This is Sony's booth, which never really impresses me, but it had a few cool Elysium things, like that ship:
On the left, two costume pieces from del Toro's Pacific Rim. On the right, weapons/props from Looper.
On the left, QMx's beautiful new USS Kelvin model. On the right, Sony's costume display for After Earth:
Another newly revealed Star Trek ship by one of my favorite manufacturers - Quantum Mechanix (QMx)!
This is Joe, the guy who stars on the TV show Hollywood Treasure with his cool movie props on display:
One of my favorite stops every year - the latest displays from The Prop Store. All of these are real props!
A few of the movie-centric collectibles on display from Sideshow Collectibles at their big booth this year:
TROLLS! Found at the Weta booth. This was one of the most overcrowded areas of the entire showfloor:
As always, it's a complete mad house, but exhilarating to step foot on the Comic-Con showfloor the moment it opens every single year. There's always something unique, some goodies and great displays and other gems to be found hidden throughout. There's even more that I wish I could've found and taken photos of, but the night ends quickly. We'll be back again to take more photos at the end of the Con, but for now, you can continue to follow our coverage and updates straight from the San Diego Comic-Con here. This is our 7th year in a row returning to cover this Con, and we always do our very best to make it worth your while.

Alex you're the man! Probably one of the fastest Comic-Con coverages. However I wish you could have taken a few more photos of the Elysium Booth

Dear god there's some badass shit in those cases, but that busted faceplate of Gen. Kael would make me want to rob that place. I want that in my house so bad!

This is nice and all, but where's Bob Stencil? Shouldn't he have a preview video up by now?
