'Crazy, Stupid, Love' Duo 'Focus' on Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone

Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa already have a plan to work with their Crazy, Stupid, Love star Steve Carell again on an untitled script following a bunch of friends in their 40's on a European backpacking trip. However, it sounds like the directing duo is looking to reteam with a couple of other co-stars from last year's fantastically written romantic comedy/drama which was sadly ignored by the Academy Awards earlier this year. Deadline has word that Ficarra and Requa are looking at Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone to lead Focus, a film they wrote set up at Warner Bros. involving a conman and a female grifter. More below!
No deals are in place yet, and some studio sources are saying that talks haven't even reached the actors themselves yet. But if they would join the project, the two would play a veteran conman (Gosling) who gets involved with a newcomer (Stone) to the grifter business who get involved romantically. However, things get complicated since they both lie, cheat and steal for a living. Going their separate ways, apparently things get even more interesting when they run into each other again, this time with their romantic past haunting their every turn. Apparently this is more of a comedy than a drama, and since each of the stars have their own special brand of comedy talents, I really hope this works out. The two will next be seen in Gangster Squad later this year from Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer.

The pair showed great chemistry in Crazy Stupid Love. It looked like they were having so much fun while filming. So this sounds great!

Totally agree with you! Crazy, Stupid, Love was definitely one of my favorite movies last year.

It was one of my faves too! I remember a scene with Ryan and Emma in which Gosling takes off his shirt and Emma (tanked) says he looks like he's photoshopped. Hilarious! But the whole movie was hilarious.

this article needs editing. '...a film they wrote set up at Warner Bros.' also, that crazy, stupid, love film was mediocre at best. good cast, ho-hum film.
