Paula Patton and Denzel Washington

Last December, actress Paula Patton got some action of her own in the form of a supporting role alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (which hits Blu-Ray and DVD next Tuesday). Now Patton will be picking up some weapons again with her Deja Vu co-star Denzel Washington as Deadline reports the two stars are now in talks to join Mark Wahlberg in an adaptation of 2 Guns, the graphic novel written by Steven Grant. Wahlberg replaced Vince Vaughn in the project last August, and he'll be reunited with his Contraband director Baltasar Kormakur who will be at the helm of this adaptation. Read on!

The story follows on the previous draft of the script by Blake Masters which tells the story of a DEA agent and an undercover Naval Intelligence officer who are unwittingly investigating each other and steal mob money for the good guys. The duo realizes later that the mob actually got them to steal $50 million from the CIA. It's not clear which of the two lead roles that Washington and Wahlberg are taking, but I'd bet that Washington is the Naval officer and Wahlberg is the DEA agent. Hopefully it's a little less generic than Contraband, and considering Washington picks his projects very carefully, the script must be pretty solid.
