Disney Schedules 'Cars' Spin-Off 'Planes' for Release in August 2013
by Ethan Anderton
December 21, 2012
Briefly: Just this past summer, Disney gave us a teaser trailer for their animated Cars spin-off feature film Planes. The film follows Dusty, a small town dreamer who longs to enter the most epic around-the-world air race despite his fear of heights. With the help and support of a fleet of new and hilarious characters, Dusty wings his way into the biggest challenge of his life. Now Disney has slated the film for release on August 9th, 2013 with Sony's Elysium with Matt Damon and Warner Bros. We're the Millers with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis. That makes for some good family counter-programming. A voice cast has yet to be announced, and while Jon Cryer was once attached to lead, he has fallen away. Stay tuned.

Does Pixar have anything to do with this film or is Disney producing it by themselves?
