DreamWorks already has he sci-fi adaptation of Robopocalypse in the works with director Steven Spielberg at the helm, but the studio is giving a lesser known director a chance at launching a feature film career now. Variety has word the studio is plotting a micro budget sci-fi film called Glimmer with commercial director Ringan Ledwidge at the helm. In a plot that sounds like Back to the Future meets Chronicle, the story follows some teenagers who discover a portal into the past. But when one of them changes history, the effects on the future only increase and might have tragic consequences. Sounds pretty damn cool. Read on!

Here's one of the commercials directed by Ringan Ledwidge so you can see his talents for yourself:

It's not mentioned whether or not this low budget film would be found footage like Chronicle or Paranormal Activity, the film that launched this trend again, but it would certainly help keep it on the cheap. Production is supposed to begin sometime in the first half of 2013. Even though this isn't a big budget film, it's quite the opportunity for Ledwidge who used to work as a shampoo bottle filler and animal carcass gutter until he starting directing commercials. Variety points out that he has been named the best commercial director in the United Kingdom by Campaign magazine three years in a row, so hopefully he can bring some of that talent to the big screen and bring us another exciting time travel film. Cool?
