Dwayne Johnson is After Bad Guys So His Son Doesn't Have to 'Snitch'

"There is no way I'm gonna let either side dictate our fates." It looks like 2013 is going to be an action-packed year for Dwayne Johnson. G.I. Joe: Retaliation finally sees a release in March after a delay for 3D conversion, Fast and Furious 6 arrives in the summer, and Michael Bay's Pain & Gain teams Johnson up with Mark Wahlberg. But before all that, Ric Roman Waugh's Snitch will see him taking down a crime syndicate. It looks pretty generic, but there seem to be some interesting supporting character turns for Barry Pepper and Benjamin Bratt, not to mention a sizable big screen role for Jon Bernthal. Watch!
Here's the first trailer for Ric Roman Waugh's Snitch, originally from Yahoo:
Ric Roman Waugh a stunt man on films like Last Action Hero, Days of Thunder and Total Recall and director of Felon, is at the helm of this action thriller starring Dwayne Johnson as a father who goes undercover for the DEA in order to free his son who was imprisoned after being set up in drug deal. Waugh also wrote the screenplay with Justin Haythe (The Lone Ranger, Revolutionary Road) and rounded up supporting talent like Jon Bernthal, Benjamin Bratt, Susan Sarandon and Barry Pepper to fill out the rest of the cast. Snitch is one of five films starring Dwayne Johnson next year, and it hits February 22nd, 2013.

I think this looks pretty good even though it's The Rock being the same character he always is.

Nothing wrong with Dwayne Johnson playing what he knows. That method did all right by Stallone and Schwarzenegger.

I will make the argument though that DJ is a better actor than either Stallone or Arnie (even though Stallone killed "Rocky".. still an amazing performance).

I will concede your argument. I also believe that Mr. Johnson, with the right director and script, could put out a performance that would surprise a lot of folks. I'm sure he's having fun playing to type, but I hope he takes a chance and branches out in the future.

I'll probably see this one. I like a lot of the supporting acting talent they have lined up. Plus, it's always fun to watch Mr. Johnson put his size 13's to work putting boot to ass for justice.

What makes this story even more ridiculous is that it's based on a true story. Felon was a good movie though. I'll definitely watch it.
