The Amazing Spider-Man

Yes, The Avengers has effectively kicked off the summer, but Marvel still has The Amazing Spider-Man hitting theaters in July (watch the fantastic new trailer right here). Frankly, I'm pretty damn excited about this franchise reboot and can't wait to see what director Marc Webb does with his first tentpole action film. However, the general audience will likely need some convincing as to why there's a new Spider-Man so soon without Tobey Maguire. That's why a new TV spot teases a 4-minute super preview that will air during the premiere of "America's Got Talent" on May 14th. Stay tuned as we'll likely post it right after it airs.

Here's the first TV spot for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man via ComingSoon:

Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Connors, his father's former partner.

Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man features Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, Sally Field as Aunt May and Denis Leary as George Stacy. 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb is at the helm of this Spider-Man reboot, from a screenplay written by Alvin Sargent (Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 & 3), Steve Kloves (Harry Potter movies) and James Vanderbilt (The Rundown, Zodiac, The Losers). Sony/Columbia is bringing The Amazing Spider-Man to theaters in 3D on July 3rd this summer.

Yuck! Still don't like how the Lizard looks, but I can't wait to see the performances of Garfield and Stone (sounds like a cool band?).

Shame you have to watch America's Got Tragedy to see it though. Wheeling out the mentally handicapped so everyone can laugh at them singing cover versions of already terrible music.

but.......you DON'T have to watch "America's Got Talent(Tragedy?)". Ethan just wrote above that they'll likely post it here on this page right after it airs. relax, grasshopper.

I actually kind of enjoy AGT as far as talent reality shows go.  I'll be watching it but I'll definitely skip the 4 minute preview.  These things give away way too much.  Short teasers are enough for me.  Anyways, I'm up in Toronto so knowing Canadian broadcasting, they won't air that here.  Sucks for anyone who is amped to see it on tv.

Pretty excited to see the 4 minute preview hope it does not reveal too much. I think Webb is done trying to prove himself to the Raimi fanboys and reboot haters that will run to see the Batman reboot. If you do not want to see it that is fine, but as a Spider-Man fan I am excited and this new direction

I'm interested in seeing both the preview and the movie itself, Steven (and I say this as another SM fan).  I get your point about Webb just being done with trying to prove himself to the haters--it seems that no matter what he does, some will simply slag it off and throw insults.  Now, if they saw the finished film without reservations and they weren't satisfied, fine.
