First Full Teaser Trailer for 'The Bourne Legacy' with Jeremy Renner

There was never just one… Universal has unveiled the first official teaser trailer via Apple for Tony Gilroy's The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner as the new superspy we're following, named Aaron Cross. This is a true teaser (and I love the poster), but I like how sneaky it is, all the mystery, and how it doesn't show too much. The cast includes Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, as well as Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn returning to their original roles. I'm a fan of Gilroy so I like the way this looks, but I'm still not sure about picking up after Matt Damon. Enjoy!

Introduces us to a new hero whose life-or-death stakes were triggered by events in the first three movies.
The Bourne Legacy is both written and directed by American filmmaker Tony Gilroy, who started his career as a writer of scripts like Armageddon, Bait, Proof of Life and the original Bourne Trilogy, before writing & directing Michael Clayton and Duplicity. This screenplay, while not based on any specific Robert Ludlum novel, was rewritten until its current form, credited to Tony Gilroy and his brother Dan Gilroy (The Fall, Real Steel). Universal is bringing The Bourne Legacy to theaters everywhere on August 3rd this summer.

I've had my doubts about this film, but it actually looks pretty good.

I agree. I'm just glad they're mentioning Jason Bourne in the trailer and not like forgetting him or that the other movies were never previously made.

i had my *major* doubts but have to admit it that, with that very stylish trailer start and a nice intro for Renner's character, i am interested now where i wasn't at all before. the fact that this doesn't really need to exist aside, props for how the rest of the cast are all back in their roles, which gives it that feeling of planned continuity, as does mentioning Bourne. probably should have ditched the title, though. Renner gets his own film, and his character isn't even in the title!

Decent trailer. Tough footsteps to follow behind Damon, but Renner has some draw and can play mysterious well. Gilroy's a solid filmmaker. So no worries there. I just hope the fight scenes aren't a bunch of tight shots where the action is sometimes indeterminable and can give me headaches...But that could have been the gin and tonics. 😉

I hope that so, but looking for this few scenes show on trailer, it seem Gilroy is not making tight shots, fast cut's and shacky camera, wich is great...

Looks like the same bs, with one guy running around kicking ass while a bunch of suits stand around in an office looking worried. Thanks but no thanks.

Looks alright, but shouldn't have Bourne in the title. Maybe 'Treadstone' would of been a more interesting title.

Agreed with most of the comments. A non-Bourne title would have been excellent, but I can understand the familiarity for the audiences' sake. I, personally, love Renner and the look of this is pitch perfect, but I'm tired of that government woman (Joan Allen) and her anxiety'd looks and the whole rogue agent story. After a decent rant, I usually say "I won't see it" but I will, in this case. I'm a total sucker for throat punches.

So was the scene with the sniper rifle in the trailer alluding to a tie in with the first Bourne film when he had to escape the farm house?
peloquin on Feb 8, 2012
21
No, Bourne killed that sniper with a double barrel. He used the diesel tank explosion for cover and then drew him out into the wheat field, and shot him in both arms. He bled out. Clive Owen. "The Professor."

Perosonally I think Renner would have been a better Bourne than Damon. Damon was alright but never who i pictured as Bourne. I'm quite interested to see a full trailer and how it will play out as far as the story.

Actually looks pretty damn good. I had my doubts. I dig Renner, and with Albert Finney and Ed Norton, I'm sure it will deliver. Looking forward to it.

Maybe the title is not that wrong, this probably will deal with Jason Bourne Legacy in the CIA, remember he destroyed blackbriar project and the CIA director was arrested for that.

Have you seen Leaves of Grass yet? Great flick! Just saw it on Netflix not too long ago. He's one of my favorites.

Woo! Leaves of Grass was great. He did a great job. There were times if I didn't know better, I would have been convinced he had a twin. And then you've got yer Tim Blake Nelson, so it's all covered.

You know what would be cool Is to make another bourne film right after this one with both Matt Damon and Renner. To early to tell if legacy will be any good or not. An R rating would be nice but I am sure it will be PG-13 like the other bournes. The trailer looks better then I had imagined when this firlm was first announced. I am wondering if the famous shaky cam will be a major part of legacy as well.

You'll have to watch Kingdom of Heaven if you haven't already. You never see his face but, trust me, he's in there.

I wonder if they'll tie him in with Treadstone getting burned. Maybe he could be the one who capped Conklin. This might be from the perspective an operative who is still on the agency's side, and if they're setting up more films to follow, it might be about his path to the discovery of their shady dealings, and becoming disillusioned.

Hello, I realize many "Bourne" fans are disappointed that Matt Damon/Paul Greengrass are not making The Bourne Legacy...Tony Gilroy has been involved from the very beginning. Gilroy wants to keep this character alive, and The Bourne Legacy is meant to do that...so that when Damon/Greengrass decide to come back and make the 5th Bourne film...it will be set-up for them to have Bourne come out of hiding...and probably have to save Pamela Landy's life...or he'll be pissed off enough to come kick some ass of whomever was responsible for possibly killing her. I suspect that she will be the new C.I.A Director in "Legacy"?? Matt Damon would not be playing Bourne...he wants out of the life and he is his real self now...David Webb!! If you were him in the first 3 films ...would you not want to go into hiding? He wants to be left alone...and start a new life somewhere, probably in disguise...just like the Ludlum character in the novels...he has to become a chamelion. Like Tony Gilroy said; This next edition of the story is after everything has gone totally public, Bourne's face is plastered all over the news!! Give Gilroy a shot at this...and we'll see how it turns out...
