First Look at Disney's Next Animated Movie 'Frozen' is, Well, Frozen
You might have to grab a jacket for this first look. Disney Animation has unveiled a photo from Frozen, the new animation musical starring Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel in singing roles. This is the back-from-the-dead "comedy adventure" Snow Queen project, being directed by Chris Buck (Surf's Up, Tarzan) and Jennifer Lee. EW.com has debuted the first bit of artwork by Jim Finn featuring Anna (Bell) in the winter wasteland created by her Snow Queen sister Elsa. "The unnatural quality of the ice emphasizes this is not, you know, sky-made ice, but ice made by someone," says Lee. I really want to see more from this already.
"This is her sister's magic. Elsa created this winter storm and ice formation," reveals director Chris Buck. "We love the power of it, and yet there's a magical quality to it also." "We wanted to push it to the extreme."
Update: Full-size concept art now available - click to download high res, straight from Disney Animation.
Frozen, loosely based on Hans Christian Anderson's classic story "The Snow Queen," stars Broadway legend Idina Menzel as Elsa, a magical queen in self-imposed exile, and Kristen Bell as her sister Anna, who, along with a mountain man named Kristoff and his reindeer Sven, travels into the icy wilderness to find her sister and bring her home. Bobby Lopez (of Book of Mormon, Winnie the Pooh) and his wife Kristen wrote the music for Frozen, as this will be a return to the musical for Disney Animation. Tarzan and Surf's Up director Chris Buck is co-directing with Jennifer Lee. Disney has Frozen set for a 3D release on November 27th, 2013, Thanksgiving week late next year, so we've got a while to wait. Head over to EW.com for more.

Too bad. Whatever happened to the "1 hand drawn every two years" plan?
David Banner on Dec 16, 2012
I suppose they already made their test with hand-drawn on Princess and the Frog. It didn't do as well as they'd hoped.

disney needs to go back to animation musicals that appeal to teens & adults not kids anymore because when i was a kid (27 now) pocahontas little marmaid and beauty & the beast wasn't most boys type we were into lion king Aladdin & Hercules. even the sappy parts were boring us to death. now us guys see Pocahontas as classic romantic movie that we love even if we couldn't admit it to friends back then. disney needs to realize that there fans are older now but there still the fans they had from back then. most little kids they were going far back then now isn't watching movies and tv there out jumping around the house. kids from the 90's and today's generation has changed. people that are watching disney animation movies now are teenagers and adults in there twenties. the music in upcoming frozen needs to be very good because from the pictures it looks like a romance type so follow the way of Pocahontas's colors of the wind type of music that draws you in with every word spoken.
