First Trailer for 'The Incredible Burt Wonderstone' Magician Comedy

"The guy's a magician? He doesn't even have a costume." Earlier today, Warner Bros teased a set of playing card posters for this dueling magicians comedy, now the trailer is out and it actually looks really good. Or maybe I just love watching magicians (yea I used to watch old VHS specials as a kid, too). The Incredible Burt Wonderstone stars Steve Carell as lifelong magician Burt Wonderstone, Steve Buscemi as his assistant, and Jim Carrey as his nemesis, the street magician Steve Gray. Okay, maybe some of the gags are cheesy, but Alan Arkin seems like he'll steal the show. Though why didn't we see more Olivia Wilde?
Here's the very first trailer for Don Scardino's The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, from Apple:
After breaking up with his longtime stage partner, a famous but jaded Las Vegas magician named Burt Wonderstone (Carell) fights for relevance when a new, hip street magician (Carrey) appears on the scene.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Don Scardino, of mostly TV work previously including "30 Rock", "Big Lake", "Law & Order", "Hope & Faith" and "Cosby". The original screenplay was co-written by John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein (both of the Horrible Bosses script, and the upcoming Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers) from a story by Daley, Goldstein and Chad Kultgen. Warner Bros produced and is releasing Burt Wonderstone in theaters starting March 15th, 2013.

I'm hoping Jim Carrey won't do his usual over the top facial expressions and stuff we've seen him do in everything (except for Eternal Sunshine... yes I know). That said, this looks fun. But will it be funny?

And how about The Number 23, the guy does something completely different, and he gets nominated for a razzie. Kinda reminds me of Bruce Willis' career being almost destroyed by what was a decent, albeit terribly marketed, movie. I don't get Hollywood these days, maybe wait for international figures come in before deciding a movie was a flop or not

The Number 23 was a muddled mess, and deals with an obscure form of paranoia nobody cares about. Oh and you guys are forgetting Doing Time on Maple Drive and Man on the Moon. Although anything Kaufman is either love it/hate it.

It'll be nice to see him step away from that character and do something ridiculous. I got a Donny vibe from the trailer.

That picture made me think a skinny Val Kilmer was in this.

This movie looks amazing, and I think magicians are going to laugh and enjoy this comical depiction of old-style vegas performers. I'm super excited for it. Interested in some amazing entertainment for events this year? Check out Comedy Magician Alan Smola
