Maniac Remake Trailer

"Are you an artist?" One of the films I'm planning to see at the Cannes Film Festival is Franck Khalfoun's Maniac remake, starring Elijah Wood as a deranged serial killer in New York. I recently discovered that Cannes put up an early trailer for Maniac on their website, but the encoding is messed up. I spent a while fixing this and trying to properly sync the audio, but it's missing the final few seconds of footage. That said, it's a very creepy trailer, with lots of nudity and raw uncensored violence, so watch out. But it does look very dark and very intense, I'm still intrigued to see it. Hopefully Wild Bunch fixes the trailer soon. Take a look!

Watch the first uncensored teaser trailer for Franck Khalfoun's Maniac remake, originally via Cannes:

(UPDATE! Thanks to Bloody-Disgusting, this is now the full-length official trailer. Finally it's fixed!)

Plot synopsis: Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill. Actress Nora Arnezeder is playing Anna. This Maniac remake is directed by Franck Khalfoun (P2, Wrong Turn at Tahoe) from a script by Alexandre Aja, Grégory Levasseur & C.A. Rosenberg. I'll be seeing it in Cannes soon.

holy shit. i wonder if this is going to be one of those movies where it's super uncomfortable to watch, and then the serial killer gets away in the end?

Damn. Intrigued, yes. Seems like it might have a good uneasiness throughout, similar to that of Henry.

I'm manicic for maniac Elija wood is frodo but his eyes had evil shining, if he know what to do everything will be great I love skillful production movie with excellent craft structure. In nowadays I love "last house on left"/"I spit on your grave"/"drag me to hell"/"paranormal activity1,2,3"/"descent"/"quarantin"/"rec1,2,3"/"orphan"/"insidious"/"house of devil"/"saw1"/30days of night/28 days, weeks later/Dawn Of Dead/Texas chainsaw/Friday 13/piranha What beautiful great horror meals I live with love of this films If they Wana remake Carrie or maniac,ok,doesn't matter, but work on them, work really hard, choose the best, spend time for them, know what is good and what we want and must know if they work hard we reply hard to them either God bless them

wow- that left me gobsmacked........very intense.  i hope it's more than just a bunch of gratuitous violence though......it looks like it'll spend some time getting into the head of the killer - and that would be really interesting.

piece of crap. can already see it's an obvious just stealing of ideas withe the only new angles added being cheap scares and shallow and predictable versions of the characters. makes for a very flat film. completely missing what made the Lustig/Spinell film truly great. ehh.. maybe i'm wrong. but i doubt it.
