Frank Grillo Confirmed as Crossbones Villain in 'Captain America 2'

Well, that was fast. Just last week, Warrior and "Prison Break" star Frank Grillo revealed that he spent some time at Marvel, while another source learned he was up for the role of Crossbones, a villain in the Captain America universe. Now Variety has confirmed that Grillo has been officially landed the villainous role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Normally a henchman of Red Skull, Crossbones (aka Brock Rumlow) led the Savage Crims gang in New York's lower East Side before joining a school for criminals. Later he worked under Red Skull and was believed to be behind Cap's assassination in the comics.
However, as we pointed out when the news broke, since Hugo Weaving doesn't sound too keen on reprising his villainous role from Captain America: The First Avenger, we don't think he'll show up for the sequel. So what does that mean for Crossbones? We don't know. Maybe he ends up working for the title bad guy The Winter Soldier (we talk a little bit about that in this post about Anthony Mackie playing Cap's sidekick The Falcon). Only time will tell, but this will definitely boost Grillo's career. You can catch him in End of Watch in theaters right now and will see him later this year in Zero Dark Thirty and next year in Gangster Squad.

"...since Hugo Weaving doesn't sound too keen on reprising his villainous role..." F**k that noise, bring in Christoph Waltz.

Hugo Weaving is too exposed anyway. The character was good but he needs to do something different.
