The winners of the HFPA's 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards, the precursor to the Academy Awards, were announced tonight at a ceremony held at The Beverly Hilton hotel, hosted again by Ricky Gervais. The list below will be updated with all the film-related winners once they're announced during the ceremony's live broadcast. This year's nominees were worthy, but still included some odd picks all around, even driving Ethan to write a rant about them. Hopefully the winners turn out better, but you can always expect at least one or two surprises from the HFPA, so be ready. Bring it on, Gervais! Full list of winners updated below.

Morgan Freeman
What do you think of the winners? How is the ceremony going with Ricky Gervais hosting for a third year in a row? Are the winners tonight an early indicator for the Oscars? What movie(s) are you rooting for?
Overall, while it was a fun ceremony, it's honestly not that memorable of a year. The Descendants is a good film, but not a great one, and not the film I was hoping would win Best Drama. But they already gave my film of choice, The Artist, an award when it won. The rest of the winners were rather odd picks, including even Ludovic Bource's Original Score for The Artist. What do you think of all the winners this year?

Morgan Freeman deserves this for all of his many works, including his work with the Jazz movement in Clarksdale Mississippi (Ground Zero Jazz Club). A needed destination for anyone interested in the roots of blues/jazz.

Let me get this straight... Chris Cornell -DIDN'T- win for best original song for the Keeper??? That was fixed, for sure. RECOUNT! I DEMAND A RECOUNT! How can a song that no one I know has even heard of win?

fuck golden globes! it's all bs! It's all bought and it's just a boozfest! Who the fuck is foreign press ? Exactly, nobody!!! They are a bunch of celebrity gossip reporters form different countries, who get paid millions of dollars under the table & send lavish gifts, while the rest of the country is jobless, so they nominate films and more people go see them, ( buy tickets $$$... ) because they are " AWARD WINNING / NOMINATED " it's all a big scam. Golden globes are a joke! The studios even have to buy the award for their actor/director/producer.... they are NOT FREE!

Nothing against George Clooney, but that award was Michael Fassbender's. Clooney was good but Fassbender moved me to tears in so many scenes, some of which were extremely non-conducive to subtle character development. Here's hoping the Oscars are a different story. But yeah, dry year in general.

Don't worry about that, I suspect the BAFTAS will snub Clooney in favour of Gary Oldman or Daniel Craig

As long asClooney is buddy buddy with the hollywood, he is always the winner. But DeCaprio deserves it lot more. He is a great actor.

these awards are a joke, i dont know why why people take them seriously. They always choose European or big Hollywood. Its never really about the work with them.

Drive shouldve won best picture in my opinion.. and Fassbender easily shouldve taken best actor for his role in Shame.. i have no idea about the rest.. but it just feels weird that Shame, Drive, Warrior, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, A Dangerous Method, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (although it was a let down for me), or The Ides of March didnt get any awards
