Guillermo del Toro / Emma Watson

Guillermo and Hermione teaming up? Variety is reporting that Guillermo del Toro is now set to direct a new take on the classic fairytale Beauty and the Beast for Warner Bros. This is not the first time we've heard about this project, as del Toro had been involved as a producer previously and Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has been attached since last summer, but apparently del Toro is now ready to direct this following finishing Pacific Rim. The feature is now developing with a new script by Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones's Diary, Brideshead Revisited, The Three Musketeers) and del Toro lined up to produce and direct.

The big news here is that Guillermo is taking over as director, likely as his follow-up to the sci-fi monsters action flick Pacific Rim, but not too quickly as Emma Watson still has to shoot Your Voice in My Head with David Yates first. DiNovi Pictures' Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan will produce this new Beauty and the Beast with del Toro, who plans to write a treatment off of which Davies will work. So he's really taking it on as his own major project, a del Toro-crafted Beast, and a Beauty. Disney recently re-released their classic animated Beauty and the Beast in 3D in January. I'm curious to see how GdT reinvents this story, I have a feeling they want similar to Rupert Sanders' Snow White and the Huntsman, but we'll see how it turns out.

Del Toro plus Beauty and the Beast sounds awesome.  And Watson is the very definition of beauty.

Well, Watson can do beauty without effort and we know that Guillermo can  beasts without effort. Lets hope that his Beast is not as cute as his gremlin type beasts in Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.

Agreed, Emma has grown into a quite beautiful actress, and Del Toro with his creative mind could work wonders within this world...

Every few months, Del Toro attaches then detaches himself from something. He's been doing this for years now - ever since Hellboy II. He's had that many things he's been "going to direct", but he never does anything. JUST MAKE A FUCKING MOVIE ALREADY!

$100 on Ron Pearlman reprising his role (as Vincent)  🙂

😀 I think he'd be more likely to take the part of "father" Jacob Wells.  He's too old to play Vincent now.
