'Haywire' Action Star Gina Carano in Talks to Join 'Fast and Furious 6'

Gina Carano

Though the plot is being kept under wraps for the sixth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise with Paul Walker and Vin Diesel reprising their lead roles, and Dwayne Johnson in hot pursuit after the events of Fast Five, I'm betting there will be car chases, explosions, and mediocre writing and acting. One other guarantee we can now make comes from a report by Heat Vision that reveals MMA fighter Gina Carano, fresh off her big screen debut in Haywire earlier this year, has landed a role in the film. Though details on her character are also under wraps, we at least know that she'll be a member of Johnson's team.

Justin Lin is back in the director's chair for the sequel, and franchise scribe Chris Morgan, who wrote the last three films in what has become a billion dollar franchise. Frankly, I think the series has run its course despite the story in the last film essentially allowing for a middle of the franchise reboot with familiar characters sticking around for more adrenaline fueled action. I know there's an audience that enjoys the mindless entertainment, but I just want something different. Of course, Carano is easy on the eyes and definitely kicks some ass, so that might do the trick. We'll find out next summer on May 24th, 2013.

i dont see how it has run its course fast five injected life into the franchsie like never before and made it feel fresh and new again it is alive more than ever

The action is generic, the acting is terrible, and there's literally not one scrap of a decent story in this new story arc that started with Fast Five. When films like The Raid: Redemption are in theaters, I don't care about another sequel in this franchise with the same old garbage.

oh so true...

thechillerdewd on Apr 23, 2012

the action was far from generic in fast five and you basically could of described ghost protocol with your rant

HG2012 on Apr 23, 2012

I completely disagree with your assessment of Ghost Protocol. The sequence on the Burj Khalifa alone makes it better than all of Fast Five. Simon Pegg, Paula Patton and Jeremy Renner, all real actors as a great supporting cast, and the phenomenal directing from Brad Bird made Ghost Protocol run circles around Fast Five.

Ethan Anderton on Apr 24, 2012

Simon Pegg ruined the movie for me.

Speaking of The Raid, Ethan I've heard rumors that Carano is being looked at for the lead role in the american remake

I enjoy the Fast and Furious franchise simply because it is mindless entertainment. And I'm apparently not the only one, since it's a billion dollar franchise. I wouldn't have called the bank vault scene "generic". Everyone has a different opinion on matters like this, but the least you can do is respect those opinions.

I honestly don't think they need to do another one. Five really brought it back to the front of the line. If the films went from The Fast and The Furious, Fast and Furious, and Fast Five then it would have been something to really pay attention too...however we got a horrid sequel and a pretty shitty spin-off. Fast Five was a good way to end it all.

Simple really: These movies make a lot of $$$$$$

Max Renn on Apr 24, 2012

why do people take these films so harsh and serious...I enjoyed fast five as much as how I enjoyed the rest of the films and look forward to this one. There just the really fun kind of movies u get to sit back grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride, great action sequences and car chases I don't care much about the dialogue

LiberalEnterpriseship on Apr 23, 2012

I don't take it seriously, but even as just a fun, mindless action movie, I'm not entertained. I'm bored.

Ethan Anderton on Apr 24, 2012

This woman can't act and has no charisma.

Hu on Apr 23, 2012

She's hot and could totally kick someones ass...well not Cyborg...she's a fucking robot.

Xerxexx on Apr 23, 2012

Would like to see Gina Carano's character go head to head with Michelle Rodriguez's character in the next one! They are both pretty tough chicks on screen so im guessing thats why they cast her. Nice!

batsupe on Apr 23, 2012

Hell, keep em coming for me. Good ol mindless fun. Its my Harry Potter franchise.

ur_babys_daddy on Apr 23, 2012

For sure!

Solo_Calrissian on Apr 24, 2012

I disagree that Fast Five was the "same old garbage."  It ditched the drag racing from the previous films and threw in a train robbery, fist fights, gun fights, foot chases, and a wrecking ball by way of bank vault.  While the acting/dialogue has always been laughable and the set pieces are absurd, I think it's hard to accuse Fast Five of not being "different."

FAF6 will be totally incredible,it's obvious,I Wana real action with less CGI,I Wana diesel and rock fight with cars not with hands. I wish Justin Lin Direct the Terminator 5,what a pity...

I'm of the mindset that movies are all guilty pleasures on some level for everyone.  This happens to be my cup of tea.  IMO the 5th one worked and I'd pay to see a 6th one.  Especially if they can keep it fresh and fast-paced.

Solo_Calrissian on Apr 24, 2012

Haywire literally put me to sleep, she was great as a Gladiator, but she sucks in movies. I hope she never catches on.

Dkurysz137 on Apr 24, 2012

Honestly there is a simple recipe, Fast bad ass cars, Action, Hot Women and dudes fighting over the cars, the action and the women... success.
