'Haywire' Star Gina Carano First to Join Female 'Expendables' Movie

Kicking off an acting career with the lead role in Steven Soderbergh's action thriller Haywire wasn't a bad way to go, but now MMA fighter Gina Carano is really kicking her big screen presence into overdrive. Not only will we see her kick ass alongside Dwayne Johnson and The Fast and the Furious 6, but now Variety reports she's the first to join the gestating female take on The Expendables. The new project from The Grey and Killing Them Softly producer Adi Shankar and his 1984 Private Defense Contractors production banner was announced last month, and it sounds like the flick coming together pretty quickly. The film doesn't have a title yet (The Sexpendables is probably a little too chauvinistic or already taken by a porn parody), but Shankar is financing it himself. Talks are still ongoing with some unnamed female talent for what will hopefully be an impressive ensemble cast packing just as much estrogen as the testosterone fueled franchise led by Sylvester Stallone and his rag tag team of action veterans. Our dream cast previously included Sigourney Weaver, Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale, Michelle Rodriguez, Lucy Lawless, Linda Hamilton, Uma Thurman, Zoe Saldana and Michelle Yeoh. I'd like to throw Angelina Jolie in there, but I just don't think this is her cup of tea anymore. Any other suggestions?

After seeing the girl in E2 hold up her end without being a lame sex symbol or wannabe tough-girl archetype, I wondered what it would be like to have two series' running side-by-side, or at least have a male vs. female conflict in one of them. That proposed cast is interesting. Dunno about Lucy Lawless... then again I never saw Xena.

It was a bit of a tepid suggested love story with her liking Stallone's character, but agreed that it was good she was neither sex symbol nor wannabe, just a professional through and through.

Sharon Stone, Ellen Barkin, Carrie-Ann Moss, Demi Moore, Hilary Swank, Jodie Foster, Chyna, Naomie Harris and Queen Latifah as "The Fat Dike". As the movie's bad girls: Angelina Jolie and Zoe Saldana! Definitely find a spot for Charlie Sheen and Chris Brown in there, a nice spot where they could get shredded to pieces by a flaming crane that shoots acid via a wrecking ball.....that happens to have spikes on it, covered with blood.....blood that has aids in it. Oh and Judi Dench makes the tatoos at the biker hang out!
