'Haywire' Star Gina Carano Ready to Kick Ass Again in 'In the Blood'

Gina Carano's acting was the weakest part of Steven Soderbergh's Haywire, but her physicality and an A-list cast made that movie worth watching. And even though Haywire didn't perform very well at the box office, it looks like Carano will get another chance to display her MMA skills on the big screen. The athlete-turned-actress is set to star in a new action thriller called In the Blood, which sounds an awful lot like the Liam Neeson hit Taken. Instead of a kidnapped daughter, Carano's character is out to avenge her husband, who disappears while the two are vacationing in the Caribbean. Are there pirates be out for some blood?
We're not sure, but Carano must use her own particular set of skills, to hunt down the men she thinks captured and killed him.THR brings word that John Stockwell (Into the Blue, Blue Crush) will direct a script by Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston (Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead). “This role will showcase not only Gina’s fighting skills, but also her acting abilities as her character struggles to reign in her violent past,” Stockwell said. I liked Haywire a bit more than Alex did - you can read his review here - but the director of Into the Blue and Blue Crush doesn't exactly inspire confidence. But hey - if the guy can get away with a career making movies in gorgeous locations, more power to him.

I have yet to check out, "Haywire", but Carano is a very sexy and charismatic woman! I have a hunch she will make a name for herself soon, rather than later. Stockwell is a director who is only as good as the source material he's given! I think both Stockwell and Carano will surprise us with this flick!

I hope this one turns out to be a good movie. I didn't see Blue Crush or Into the Blue but aren't they both surfing related movies? I hope for Gina's sake this turns out to be a good movie. This premise also sounds like Ashley Judd's upcoming TV show "Missing".
