Hugh Jackman Also Back for Singer's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'
He's back again! The mutant who can't die, Wolverine, back for more. Hugh Jackman recetly finished shooting The Wolverine, a stand-alone non-prequel or sequel directed by James Mangold, but word is he's now back as Wolverine once again in the new Bryan Singer movie. As of just a month ago, Bryan Singer was taking over directing Fox's new X-Men sequel - Days of Future Past. It was originally in the hands of Matthew Vaughn, but has since gone back to Singer, who has wrangled up the likes of Sir Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy to return, too. Now with Wolverine, they've got just about everyone.
The report says that "sources confirm that Hugh Jackman is in negotiations to reprise his Wolverine role in the movie, which is ostensibly a sequel to X-Men: First Class but will prominently feature actors from the first X-Men trilogy." Beyond that, we know that the original Magneto and Professor X are also back, along with the two of the greatest actors from First Class: James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, plus Jennifer Lawrence (getting lots of Oscar buzz this year) as Mystique and Nicholas Hoult as Beast. This is quite a cast, especially with Hugh Jackman coming back as Wolverine. He was sorely missed in First Class in general, except for that brief cameo, but it's good to know he's back in a more meaningful role this time.
THR doesn't provide much more info beyond what we already know about Days of Future Past being based on a classic storyline that unfolded in two issues of Marvel Comics' Uncanny X-Men in 1981. The story was partially set in an alternate future where surviving mutants have been put in concentration camps, giant robots called Sentinels patrol America, and most of the X-Men have been hunted and killed. In the present day, the X-Men try to stop a key event to prevent that future from occurring. Matthew Vaughn hints "it's X-Men meets The Terminator. You've got robots, you've got time travel, you've got superheroes - it's got everything in one film." Sounds great! We'll have to continue to keep you updated on casting from here.
20th Century Fox currently has X-Men: Days of Future Past, being directed by Bryan Singer (of X-Men, X2, Superman Returns), set for initial release on July 18, 2014 a few summers away. Getting excited already?

Jericho, This film hasn't even went into production yet and you bring cynicism already, piss off and go complain about the new Star Wars or something.

he has a good point though, odds are it will be saturated with wolverine, and not that im not a fan, but ive had enough already. odds are the movie will stink just as bad as first class.

Are you kidding? X-Men: First Class was a great film. And this one is looking to be even better.

you must not be a marvel fan, or a good movie fan for that matter.

Guy with long name, when the character has made the first three movies into Wolverine and his X-Friends, gets his own prequel, a new spin off coming up just for him, even X-Men first class got buzz on yahoo with just the title 'Wolverine snuck in on First Class' yes im going to be cynical. and until they can provide solid proof that this wont be the same case with this film then i will remain so....

This is shaping up to be a great film. Outstanding casting, a great director who has proven track record with this franchise, probably one of comic history's best source material storyline, and a great movie to sequel in X-Men: First Class. With the Avengers movie universe beginning it's second wave of movies next year, a stellar new X-Men movie in the works, and a possibility of recovering some old franchise titles like Fantastic Four and Daredevil back into Marvel Studios control the near movie future is looking good for geeks!

Excellent!!! Fassbender McEvoy,Jackman, Mkellen and Stewart playing super beings in the same movie. EPIC! HOWEVER, AS A COMIC FAN I AM SICK OF THE CREATORS OF THESE TALES GETTING NO PROPS! To explain, this is the second major XMen property based on the stories conceived by the Chris Claremont and Legendary JOHN BYRNE team! I find it disgusting that a duo that was responsible for shaping the Wolverine you see today and some of the greatest stories ever written regarding the Xmen do not even get a writeup. For Sony to ruin the Phoenix Saga that they created was already unforgivable. If they ruin Days of Future Past along with snubbing the creators again would be damn shame. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Days_of_Future_Past

I'm in serious danger. I don't know if I can take any more incredibly good news about this film. My geek-o-meter is about to explode.

can not wait to see this film! First Class was a great way to start off the new series and with the cast from the first three X-Men it should bring it all together. DOFP sounds like a great storyline and I'm excited to see Singer bring it to life.
