Imogen Poots Feeling Dreamworks' 'Need for Speed' with Aaron Paul

Imogen Poots

Just a couple weeks ago we learned that "Breaking Bad" Aaron Paul would hop behind the steering wheel for DreamWorks' adaptation of the Need for Speed video game franchise. Brothers John and George Gatins (the former of which wrote Real Steel and Flight) came up with the concept for the screenplay, but no specific story details have been revealed for the film directed by Scott Waugh (Act of Valor). Of course, you can't have a film like this without a saucy female lead, and now Heat Vision has word that Imogen Poots (Fright Night,  A Late Quartet) is currently in talks for the adrenaline-fueled, fast-paced action thriller.

The film isn't adapting any specific game in the franchise, but there's 19 different games to pull from, so who knows where this will go. DreamWorks says the movie will be “rooted in the tradition of the great car-culture films of the '70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise." It seems like quite a young cast is coming together now, so I wonder if any older talent will come on board for any other roles, especially some sort of villain role. Either way, with Poots joining, this might mean she's out of the running for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The film sounds like just another Fast & Furious series, but here's hoping this kind of acting talent can make it better. The film arrives February 7th, 2014.
