Linda Cardellini in Return Trailer

"What happened to you over there, you're acting crazy!" Focus World recently debuted an official trailer on Apple for Liza Johnson's Return, an indie drama starring Linda Cardellini and Michael Shannon. This "twist" on the normal return-from-war story follows a female soldier coming back from a tour of duty, and things not being right. As much as I appreciate the roots of this story, I'm sorry but I'm a bit tired of these kind of films, the mopey everything-isn't-the-same, and I-don't-fit-in-anymore stuff. Unfortunately Linda Cardellini doesn't fit either, definitely not for me. No wonder they're dumping it in January. Watch anyway.

When Kelli returns home from war, she expects to slowly settle back into her life with her husband and kids in the town she grew up, but gradually realizes that the life she left behind is no longer there for her.

Return is the feature directorial debut of female filmmaker Liza Johnson, of a number of highly acclaimed short films previously. Return was written & directed by Johnson. This premiered in the Cannes Quinzaine sidebar and at the Deauville American Film Festival last year. Focus World will be releasing Return digitally starting on February 28th after it hit theaters starting February 10th early this year. Anyone interested?

This looks like a good film with solid performances, but I agree with you Alex, that good just does not cut it anymore when dealing with this "soldier returning home" storyline. On the other hand, we should always be respectful to these type of stories because their content is valid and poignant.

Totally forgot she was in that movie.  Probably because everyone told me how funny it was, and then I didn't think it was that funny.  She seems to be a decent actress though.

I hope she sets up loads of booby-traps in the woods and invites everyone on an Easter Egg hunt. Kaboooooooooooooooom. Rambabe! Just kidding looks good in a depressing sort of way.
