"Hey L Dubba E, I challenge you to a beat off!" Today's indie trailer is a red band for a film called The FP, directed by the Trost Brothers being distributed by Drafthouse Films. It's essentially The Warriors meets Dance Dance Revolution, the video game, in some crazy dark comedy mayhem. Director Jason Trost also stars as JTRO with Lee Valmassy as L Dubba E, Art Hsu, Caitlyn Folley, Nick Principe and Brandon Barrera as BTRO. This actually looks surprisingly good, like a great cult classic in the making. There's a lot of good humor in it. Though I do think this trailer shows pretty much everything up until the end, maybe too much.
Watch the new official red band trailer for the Trost Brothers' The FP, via YouTube:
In a dystopian future, a relentless turf war rages. Two rival gangs feud for control of rural wasteland Frazier Park ('The FP') in the deadly arena of competitive dance-fight video game "Beat-Beat Revelation."
The FP was written and directed by brothers Brandon Trost and Jason Trost, previously behind Vs and the short The Day the Dead Weren't Dead. This first premiered at the SXSW Film Festival last year, and also played at Fantasia and Fantastic Fest, where it was picked up by Drafthouse Films. They're bringing The FP to limited theaters and VOD starting March 16th next month. For release info, visit their official website.

"Looks surprisingly good?" This looks unsurprisingly godawful.

See, I like plenty of those "made-to-be-bad" kind of movies, and I enjoy the whole concept. But this doesn't even look like it fits into that. This looks.... Idk lol. Just horribly bad in every way.

It looks like a movie that may have been meant to poke a little fun at itself and not take itself too seriously, but unfortunately did just the opposite. I believe this one is going to tank hard.

i like terrible movies, but I really don't think this looks that appealing. Especially after seeing so much in the trailer. I also don't think it's right to mention The Warriors in the same light as this movie. Not cool...

This looks like the dumbest movie ever. And that beat playing over the trailer makes me think of a bunch of sweaty Asian dudes, and a bunch of sweaty white kids wanting to be sweaty Asian dudes at a local internet cafe I used to hang out at 5 years ago. I can't believe I even watched this trailer. And I can't believe James Remar even did the voice over for a paycheck. This is fucking stupid. But I loved "Hobo With A Shotgun," so who am I to talk?

Dancers.........come out and playeeeeay!!!!!! How the hell could you deliver the line "I challenge you to a beat off" without busting a gut laughing? The only thing this has in common with The Warriors is Remar's voice. I guess you could say it's like Escape from NY meets Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo because they have a guy with an eyepatch and a dance-off. Still......I think I gotta see this.

"Hey L Dubba E, I challenge you to a beat off!" - "Am I about to bust a f#%ing nut in this bitch?!" Yeah, that's the movie for me.

Looks like a great sketch comedy short. But feature length? The only thing keeping me hoping is the Drafthouse Films label.

Ok im sorry..i think im starting to lose respect for this blog..i used to consider First Showing a reputable movie blog where i can see stuff i didnt know about and get good recos....the fact that you feature this trailer and call it good (in any way) is plain ridiculous. This is not like Machete or other "made to be bad" kind of movies..this is completely stupid. this is like one of those fake segments in between the MTV movie awards where the presenters make a fake cameo.

Wow great educated and grown up response...are you somehow attached to this POS movie? ..did you not read all the other comments also agreeing this is a huge JOKE of a film and sad that its even featured on this site. Though the film will bomb on its own..its about not trying show any respect to bad films like this..it disrespects the actual good films worth giving attention to

Hate to say it but i kind of agree. I dont mind funky little movies, but this actually does seem like one of those fake commercials you see in the movie theater where you expect a cell phone to ring all of a sudden hahah

Any indie-filmmakers who take a risk and make something truly original and fun that doesn't take itself too seriously WIN in my book. Especially when it doesn't involve vampires or zombies.
