"Brace yourself for this terrifying experience!" Today's trailer via Bloody-Disgusting is for Spanish horror Apartment 143, about a team of "parapsychologists" who investigate a series of phenomena in a newly occupied apartment. It definitely feels like a cross between REC and Paranormal Activity, with a bit of modern Spanish filmmaker flair. Plus, you know you'll always get something crazy with Rodrigo Cortés (of Buried), who wrote the script. They use video, HD, 8mm, 16mm & 35mm cameras to follow the "scientists' footsteps through a haunted house, casting a frightening spell over the audience." It looks scary, and violent.
Watch the first trailer, in English, for Carles Torrens' Apartment 143, via Bloody-Disgusting:
A team of parapsychologists sets out to investigate a series of phenomena in a newly occupied apartment.
Apartment 143, originally titled Emergo in Spanish, is directed by up-and-coming Spanish filmmaker Carles Torrens, of a few shorts previously, including Coming to Town. The screenplay was written by Rodrigo Cortés, the Spanish filmmaker behind Buried and Red Lights. This premiered at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain last year, and was picked up by Magnet Releasing. They'll be releasing Apartment 143 in very limited theaters on June 1st, also arriving on VOD starting April 27th. For more info, visit their official website.

I am tending to agree with the above comments. Been there done that. Less is sometimes more. Slow burn tension is often much more effective than a full on, in your face type approach. All problems with a lot of modern film making these days it seems. Big pass for me too.

I'm some glad that I haven't seen PA2 and PA3 then I can consider "Apartment 143" has an AWESOME sequel to the "Paranormal Activity 1" 😉
