Usually when a pair or even a trilogy of films are crafted hand-in-hand, that kind of gesture of faith is reserved for big budget, blockbuster franchises. However, Myriad Pictures is planning a pair of projects that follows a New York City couple during a difficult time in their marriage from the perspectives of the restaurant owner husband and his wife, who goes back to college. The films, which will be split into The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: His and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers, will tell the story from the view of both the husband and wife played by Jessican Chastain and Joel Edgerton.
Variety also reports William Hurt (Too Big to Fail) is also in talks to join the cast in an unknown role while Ned Benson (In Defiance of Gravity) wrote both of the films, and he's also been lined up to direct each one as well. Myriad executive Kirk D'Amico commented, "Ned has created rich and engaging characters. They are complex, and it is unique to have two different scripts to tell the story. It doesn't matter which script you read first; you absolutely want to read the other perspective." Both Chastain and Edgerton have enjoyed a quick rise to fame and will soon be household names, so having them together sounds great.
