Just recently we heard about an interesting new thriller called Grand Piano, a film that is being described as Speed at a piano as it sees Elijah Wood as a once-great concert pianist who suffers from stage fright and comes back to perform after a five-year hiatus. Just as the pianist sits down at his instrument to play the first bar of music, he notices a threatening note on his music sheet that informs him that he must play the best concert of his life in order to save the life of himself and his wife. Now Variety reports John Cusack is in talks to star opposite Wood in the film, and I'm just hoping he's the man behind this threat. More below!
The Last Exorcism 2 writer Damien Chazelle and Spanish director Eugenio Mira (who also composed the music for Timecrimes and several other films under the name Chucky Namanera) are behind the film with Buried director Rodrigo Cortes and producer Adrian Guerra, both serving as producers this time. I found a lot of suspense and greatness in Buried, and if that duo has faith in this project, I'm already sold. It sounds like an interesting role for Wood, and hopefully for Cusack if he takes the villainous role. Otherwise stay tuned to hear about Cusack's turn in The Paperboy which premieres at Cannes this month.
