Johnny Depp

Just before Comic-Con kicked off last week, where we caught the first glimpse of footage of Johnny Depp alongside Armie Hammer in The Lone Ranger, there was word that the Edward Scissorhands and Alice in Wonderland star was one of several cast members being eyed by writer/director Wes Anderson for his next feature film. Now Deadline not only confirms that Depp will star in the film, but also gives us the title The Grand Budapest Hotel. Unfortunately, that's about as specific as the details get, but remember that Anderson has said it will take place in Europe and looks back at some of the time Anderson spent in France.

With Depp being confirmed, it's likely only a matter of time before we hear the other names from the previous story officially joining the cast. Anderson's previous collaborators Bill Murray, Owen Wilson,Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody and Willem Dafoe were all being lined up for roles, and in addition to Depp, there was Jude Law and Angela Lansbury in the running to work with the filmmaker for the first time. The film also reunites Wes Anderson with Indian Paintbrush, the company behind Moonrise Kingdom which is essentially the indie darling of the summer, maybe the year.

I'm sure it'll turn out okay. I just have this tiny tiiiiny seed of doubt in my head. TINY.

No doubt in my mind that it'll be wonderful! Can't wait!

Ah, fvck. Johnny Depp is the last thing a Wes Anderson movie needs. Tons of confused soccer moms and teenies who will whine about the movie being "slow" or "not getting" the jokes.
