Horror fans have been waiting a long time to see The Cabin in the Woods from writer Joss Whedon and Cloverfield director Drew Goddard. Thankfully, the film finally hits theaters on April 13th, 2012, but before regular audiences experience the terror, those attending the 2012 SXSW Film Film Conference and Festival will get a taste of the horror in the woods. SXSW has announed that The Cabin in the Woods will premiere on the festival's opening night on March 9th, and hopefully we'll have coverage straight from the festival. More festival information can be found right here, and you can watch the trailer again below.
Here's the trailer for Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's The Cabin in the Woods:
A group of five friends going on a quiet cabin retreat scratch the surface of something so massive and horrific that they can only begin to fathom what might possibly be going on just as time quickly runs out.
The Cabin in the Woods is the feature directorial debut of Whedon protege Drew Goddard, screenwriter of Cloverfield and Robopocalypse, as well as work on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Alias" and "Lost" for J.J. Abrams. The original screenplay was co-written by Joss Whedon ("Buffy", "Angel", "Firefly", Serenity, The Avengers) & Drew Goddard. This was originally shot in early 2009, but is just now, finally, getting a release from Lionsgate. Cabin in the Woods is scheduled to hit theaters on April 13th, 2012 next spring. You in?
