Judgement is Coming! Lionsgate has just released a new motion poster for Pete Travis's Dredd 3D, the badass new sci-fi take on 2000 AD's Judge Dredd, starring Karl Urban as the new Judge. We featured the first official trailer a few weeks ago and while it does look similar to The Raid, I still think it looks awesome. The motion poster comes from SuperHeroHype, where they've announced that Lionsgate is also hosting a screening at Comic-Con, on Wednesday night next week, July 11, at 10PM in San Diego. Tickets are being given away by a few sites only (we don't have any, sorry!) but I will definitely be there. See the poster below.
It's not much (did you catch the line?), and it's just part of the bigger promotion for Comic-Con and the screening, especially with the hashtag #judgementiscoming. Other websites giving away tickets: Movies.com and Collider. Or visit the website JudgementisComing.com for more chances to win tickets to the screening.
"Sentence: death!" I'm actually very excited for this movie, I've heard some great buzz from an early test screening and I think it looks like badass sci-fi action, exactly what I love to see. I'll be at this screening and can't wait to check it out and post a video blog after. We'll keep you updated, for now follow the official site.
Dredd takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring Dredd to life as a futuristic neo-noir action movie that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra's revered 2000 AD comic strip. Dredd 3D is set for release everywhere starting September 21st.

I think its great that Karl Urban and Colin Ferrel are the face for these relaunched franchises. Both of those guys could really use a break.

They could have done some more with the 'motion' aspect. Maybe... linger on him longer AFTER he took the shot.. and have other elements come in around him - lower frame smoke, a tank busting through the wall with officers running in behind it, and bricks in the wall slowly fall revealing the city behind it. Bring up the titles and maybe a backup aircraft hovering in, why the hell not? Boom. *Drops mic*

Disappointed as a life long Judge Dredd /2000AD fan, why make it seem like a mad max style post apocalyse world? mega City One was set in the future and the dystopian future at that, the Judges were always portayed as fascists and this movie while it looks grittier and better than the stallone one misses the basic tenet and concept and setting of Mega City One ( high rise city with layers of highways like Fifth element) , this may seem like a small gripe but to me I am puzzled why? Could be budget?

And here's Scojo. On some sites you think this film rocks and on others like this, you think it sucks. Ever thought about treatment for that split personality disorder you have?

If they ever make a warhammer 40k movie (please?) Karl Urban needs to be the lead space marine...random.
