Michael Bay Says That Leaked 'Ninja Turtles' Script is Just Old News
Just yesterday, we ran a story about the brouhaha surrounding Paramount and Platinum Dunes' Ninja Turtles reboot complete with co-creator Peter Laird crapping on the leaked script that hit the internet earlier this week. Never one to keep his mouth shut and let his work do the talking for him, Platinum Dunes partner and Ninja Turtles producer Michael Bay has taken the opportunity to comment on the matter on his website (via Latino Review), claiming that the leaked screenplay everyone has read was a very early draft that was in place before he or his team even came on board. But that may not be entirely true. More below!
Here is Bay's exact quote:
The leaked script for Ninja Turtles that different sites continue to comment on was written well before I, or anyone at Platinum Dunes, was involved with the project. That script saw the shredder a long time ago. This is tired, old news -- wait for the movie!
Shredder pun aside, this sounds like typical damage control to me. He claims that the script was an old draft, but as some sharp-eyed readers have pointed out, the leaked script was dated 1/30/12, which was only a few months ago. That's especially strange because we wrote about Bay and Platinum Dunes coming on board the Ninja Turtles project back in May of 2010, which is over two years ago. So which one is it? Someone's lying. It could be Bay, in an effort to distance himself and his company from the vitriol being spewed toward the leaked script, or it could be a doctored or incorrect date on the script. Either way, it's not looking great for the pizza-eating reptiles since Paramount pushed the movie to May 2014. Thoughts?
I think this sums up every one's thoughts...

Sounds like this "leak" was intentional to get everyone's feedback on the direction Bay and co want to take the franchise. Now that everyone has voiced their opinion, they can go back to square one.

Man, if this doesn't spell out Bay's shitty attitude towards his movies and fans, then I don't know what to tell you!

So Mr.Bay if it was well written before your time calling it "tired old news" why was Paramount rushing to take it down from every source on the net? There are many other well written scripts creates by fans but so happens Paramount decided to rush on this "not" script as stated by Mr.Bay....any comments on this fantastic liar?

At this point it's hard to imagine this movie is going to see the daylight.

Well there you have it. The REAL movie is going to be so much better! My faith is completely restored. Oh wait no it's not.

I'd put money on the fact that bay is a liar. This is just one big mess. If they would've just stuck to the original story and told it like it is none of this would've happened. I hope they fix it cuz i really want to see this movie get made.

I think this script leak was real, and that's quite unfortunate for the fans of this property. When movie companies push back movies it's because they don't think they're going to get the most money they can out of it, or that it might lose money. In the case of this movie, it's probably because they think it's going to tank due to fan outrage. Look for this one to sit on a shelf until it goes direct to download.

At this point id rather Warners buy this property and have Gareth Evens make the damn thing the man knows martial arts direction as showcased in THE RAID. The thing with BAY is he knows this will make money, but what shouldve happened was they shouldve come to this past comic con and showed some concept stuff etc and see what the crowd would have been like but alas if this is the real deal then the reaction i think wouldve been destructive, I mean we only have a director and producer and 1 half of the original creators onboard, so what in the name of zues butthole is going on here, either this is going to be a disaster (which pretty much looks that way) or a sleeper and i said to friends this franchise could be (if done right) the next batman style franchise. Film 1 would be the origins Film 2 would be city at war Film 3 would be Fall of the foot no need for aliens et i mean yes you could have bebop & rocksteady but an army of ninjas be less costly than CGI creatures... i think anyways
