Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes Taking on 'Halloween' Franchise Now

That sound you hear is all the fans already pissed about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles being turned into aliens from another dimension getting their keyboards ready to make a joke about Michel Myers being turned into an alien serial killer. Why? Well because Bloody Disgusting has learned that Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production banner, also behind the newly dubbed Ninja Turtles, is in talks to take over the producing responsibilities for the continued Halloween franchise from Dimension Films. This comes shortly after news that the latter company axed the new Halloween 3D from their 2012 schedule.
The news did hit on April Fool's Day, but Bloody Disgusting was very careful to point out that this isn't a joke. This new development also comes with news that the gestating Halloween sequel will not be in 3D, nor will it use found footage. But the big details is that Platinum dunes is out to new writers and directors for the gig, which means the film that was in the works from My Bloody Valentine and Drive Angry filmmakers Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier is dead in the water and the duo is no longer involved. Platinum Dunes seems to be collecting horror icons now as they've also been behind the remakes of Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, and A Nightmare on Elm Street, so this is just another fish in the barrel. With that track record, I'm doubting that their take on Halloween will be anything special.

if anyone is to touch Halloween it should be Rob Zombie or no one - not everyone loved what he did but I enjoyed it and thought it was much better i had predicted - why do they have to re-boot it again?

I agree. I very much enjoyed Zombie's take. His sequel was god awful in my opinion, but I liked his first. This is just unnecessary. And I love Michael Myers.

M. Bay raping childhood memories across all class & genre boundaries! His father Uwe Boll would be proud!

This will be overproduced, not scary, and will have terrible actors. Platinum Dunes can't do scary. They should start making action movies. That's what Bay does anyway, so why not make lower budget ones?

I hope they take a more TCM approach on the franchise and not what they did with F13 or ANOES.
