What is it about robots that makes them so robotic? Since the viral campaign for The Dark Knight Rises has been pretty much non-existent, a true disappointment after the amazing run leading up to The Dark Knight, it seems like the viral to beat this year is for Ridley Scott's anticipated return to sci-fi with Prometheus. From the Weyland Corporation's TED talk from the future featuring Guy Pearce as the company's founder and a short promo for the android David featuring Michael Fassbender, it's been a fun ride so far. Now we have a longer, somewhat creepy, viral ad for Fassbender's android character which you can see below!
Prometheus viral video with Michael Fassbender as David from Prometheus Forum (via The Playlist):
Prometheus is directed by legendary Oscar nominated filmmaker Ridley Scott, who started it all with Alien and Blade Runner, also directing Thelma & Louise, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, American Gangster, Body of Lies and Robin Hood most recently. The screenplay was originally written by Jon Spaihts (The Darkest Hour), then updated by Damon Lindelof of "Lost" and Cowboys & Aliens, Star Trek 2. Fox has Prometheus set to hit theaters in 3D starting June 8th this summer. Visit Weyland Corp.

*very* creepy. 'I understand human emotions, although i do not feel them myself.' (tear rolls down cheek) oh, but there's a whole world of potential trouble in that single tear. amazing little clip - gets me really interested in the character and the film without showing me anything from it (i assume). top marks.

I thought that too, theres a unsettling silence at that one tear which tugs at the thought that something seems wrong. especially playing off of our knowledge of androids, which we scarcely can trust (even more so in Ridley Scott movies).

Sweet! It also felt a bit like aperture Science lol, this would be a good ad for a Portal Movie.

Even though this is my most anticipated film of 2012 I'm nervous about Spaihts. I just watched The Darkest Hour and it was complete garbage, I hated the characters, I hated the story, and there was no chemistry in the writing at all. I really hope that Lindelof just threw away his script and wrote his own from scratch. The fact that he's signed on to write another Mummy treatment doesn't inspire confidence either seeing as that franchise has definitely nuked the fridge by now.

I agree. However, the full script was not written by Lindelof. And Sir scott should by know now when a script a good and when not. I still have a lot of faith...

"I still have a lot of faith..." Same here. We're also forgetting why Scott is doing PROMETHEUS, returning to science fiction after so many years. He stated over the years that he would only return if he read an SF script that (at least to him) was worth his attention. That PROMETHEUS has his attention means that there was something in Spaihts' original screenplay that Scott felt was worth pursuing as a film. That he called in Lindelof is also a sign that he, Scott, was serious about working on this film. Not every screenwriter hits it out of the park all the time. I haven't seen THE DARKEST HOUR, however, so I cannot comment on whether Spaihts' screenplay for that film was good or not.

The question is though: Would Dekkard still want to retire andriods?

Weyland Corp was founded by the genetically ingeneered son of Dekkard and Rachel.

I think Michael Fassbender is going to take over the world or something soon. This is just excellent. I cannot believe it when I hear people saying that they were, but are now not, excited about this movie.
