The next couple years are going to be quite busy for Michael Fassbender. The Prometheus star will reprise his role of Magneto in X-Men: Days of Future Past, recently finished production on Twelve Years a Slave - another film with Shame director Steve McQueen - and will also be seen in The Counselor from director Ridley Scott. More recently he was linked to Natalie Portman's western Jane Got a Gun and will also star in and produce an adaptation of the video game Assassin's Creed. Now Fassbender will rock out like an Irishman as Variety reports he will lead a new comedy called Frank where he leads a rock band.
Details are scarce beyond the fact that the film follows Domhnall Gleeson (who played Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise) as an aspiring musician who joins an eccentric rock band led by Fassbender. Following his work in the Harry Potter franchise, Gleeson has also had a decent turn in Never Let Me Go and a forthcoming appearance in Dredd 3D. He's certainly a rising star and has the talent to become a big name from across the pond. Meanwhile, this role for Fassbender sounds like it will really let him cut loose and have a lot of fun, especially since comedy isn't something he takes on very often. Sound good?
