Must Watch: Crazy Red Band Trailer for Bobcat's 'God Bless America'

"Why have a civilization if we're no longer interested in being civilized?" Magnolia has unveiled the first official red band trailer on Hulu (via The Film Stage) for the crazy indie comedy God Bless America, the new film from Bobcat Goldthwait (Sleeping Dogs Lie, World's Greatest Dad). It's essentially the ultimate shoot ’em up catharsis film for anyone who hates selfish, arrogant American idiots and what our culture has become (you'll get a taste of it in this trailer). I saw this film at TIFF last year and it's downright hilarious, but be aware that it's very dark and violent, this is Bobcat. But if you're already intrigued, then take a look!
Watch the new red band trailer for Bobcat Goldthwait's God Bless America, via Hulu:
Loveless, jobless and possibly terminally ill, Frank (Joel Murray) has had enough of the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes his gun and decides to off the stupidest, cruellest and most repellent members of society with an unusual accomplice: 16-year-old Roxy (Tara Lynne Barr), who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement. From stand-up comedian and director Bobcat Goldthwait comes a scathing and hilarious attack on all that is sacred in the United States. This premiered at TIFF last year, and was picked up by Magnolia. God Bless America is available VOD on April 6th and in theaters on May 11th.

In your mind? Never. I'd take out the whole cast of "The Bad Girls" if it wouldn't land me in the pokey.

I find a lot of people annoying, but I'd never really want to kill them. If everyone in America decide to kill who they didn't like, it would end fairly quickly. I see the film as throwaway escapism, but we all know it's not far away from what has happened repeatedly at highschools and offices. It maybe wasn't as funny then though.

When there's only about a third of the population left, I guess. My ratio of annoying people may be a bit off. 😛

It's a lot like Super. Even the lead character's name is Frank. Weird...

An older curmudgeonly leading man has to be a Frank. What else could he be?

the shot (no pun intended) of the 2 of them standing with guns drawn, smoke rising and cartridges emptied on the "American Idol" stage should be a painting.

I really liked World's Greatest Dad, but his just looks wrong. I know it's cool to have an underage psychotic girl in your movie now, but really...that's not cool, it's creepy. I read the set up and wanted to see this, and then totally disliked it. Like someone else said, "When do you stop killing annoying people?" We are all annoying at some point to someone. But I guess if your into Nihilism this is the flick for you.

I can see this movie inspiring some copycat killers in the US. NBK was a psycho favorite as well. Although those annoying people are scum, is it responsible to show the answer as picking up a gun and killing them? Deranged minds will see it as validation.

The only thing crazier than how much civilisation has gone down the drain, is how into it everyone seems to be to just off all these other people.

Hummm... not good at all, specially cause it can inspire some kids in US. I'm afraid some stupid people agree with this idea. Please, this could go really wrong!!

I think saying "If everybody did this, we'd all die, so this movie doesn't really make sense" is a bit brainless. A) The point is to kill people who are, without a doubt, mean and rotten to the core. B) The "All or nothing" mentality doesn't even work in politics, god knows why you're using it on a movie. C) Willingly agreeing to these comments is blind stupidity. All you're doing is refusing to weigh the pro's and con's, situations, and imagine if stupid people were allowed to go on rampages. I'm not talking, you can't spell a three letter word stupid. I'm talking, I believe in a talking dead guy, lets drag some homosexuals around town and burn them, women and black people have no place in the world that is not servile, I still live in the dark ages kind of stupid. That kind of stupid. Not "everybody gets a gun and gets to go at it". If you're saying shit like that, you obviously completely missed the ENTIRE point of this movie.
