The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer

"This life is not an easy one…" Sony has officially released the third & likely final trailer for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, also showing on Avengers this weekend, along with The Dark Knight Rises third & final trailer. It's honestly best to see this thing in 3D, because it has some amazing shots that will really pop in the third dimension. The trailer follows the second and first teaser for the new Spidey, starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary and Sally Field. Honestly, after this trailer, I don't know how anyone can't be pumped to see this!

Watch the third official trailer for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, in high def from Apple:

Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Connors, his father's former partner.

Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man features Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, Sally Field as Aunt May and Denis Leary as George Stacy. 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb is at the helm of this Spider-Man reboot, from a screenplay written by Alvin Sargent (Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 & 3), Steve Kloves (Harry Potter movies) and James Vanderbilt (The Rundown, Zodiac, The Losers). Sony/Columbia is bringing The Amazing Spider-Man to theaters in 3D on July 3rd this summer.

Cool. I gotta say, I really got on board after watching Andrew Garfield in The Social Network. I respect the guy. This all still seems a bit needless, but it looks EXCELLENT.

Wow. Such an awesome trailer! The movie has an organic tone to it. I think Spidey's jokes and more especially, his acrobatics, look extremely faithful to the character.

Shizzlefits on May 3, 2012

22

They tried to overall use less stunt doubles and CG when necessary so that the whole movie would feel down to earth, realistic, believable. Organic is the main goal, this trailer looks like it could be the conclusion of a movie series rather than the beginning which already has me excited for sequels and the whole series. I hope to see the sinister 6 by the end of this, I imagine that guy that conors was talking to is the next villain

Count me in too.  I was impressed--an I've been giving the movie a lot of slack, since the cast and crew certainly were top-notch.  Dig the wisecracks, the web-swinging, the effects.  No gripes with the costume. This trailer was fantastic--and hopefully the finished film will be too.

Scopedog on May 4, 2012

30

I wasn't too keen on it until I read Garfield's reasoning to do the role.

Xerxexx on May 4, 2012

31

Now why couldn't they have shown THIS trailer in the beginning?! And another thing, the suit HAS grown on me--it reminds me of Ben Reilly's suit. Count me in too.

Big Boss on May 3, 2012

32

Honestly, the suit didn't bother me at all.  It's not like they put him in the black suit right from the get-go.  It works for me.

Scopedog on May 4, 2012

33

Wow! This flick does look more organic and has nowhere near the campy level of Raimi's version--and I did love the Raimi version! This flick will be AMAZING!

34

I'm starting to think Tobey Maguire was an odd selection for the first run at the Spider-Man franchise. Anyone else thinking that now? Andrew Garfield has the build I remember in the comics years ago.

Quanah on May 3, 2012

35

Oh ya I totally agree with you! But yet Tobey never Exactly did it for me to begin with I guess I just accepted him for the Time cause it's Spider-Man....I do think Andrew Fits the Part Perfectly!!!

40

Well said, I was in shock when I didn't see pessimistic comments all over.

McWilly on May 4, 2012

41

Because it's really, really hard to convince the giant lizard men that live beneath the city to let you film them. Much less convince them to do what you ask while you film them. CGI is just much safer all around.

Scotty97 on May 3, 2012

42

Yep.  I mean, they must've had a casting call for tall lizard men with bad attitudes, right? Seriously though...what's with the CGI whining from some people?  It's now a major tool in the filmmaker's toolbox, and it certainly works well with movies such as this, if it is used properly. I mean, what do they want?  Cheap, shoddy VFX and bad bluescreen?

Scopedog on May 4, 2012

43

"Why use CGI?" Hmmm...well, because there was no other way to do quite a few of the effects?

Scopedog on May 4, 2012

44

Seriously, I completely agree Scopedog.  Asking a question like "Why use CGI?" when making a major superhero movie nowdays is like asking "Why use a camera to film the movie?", it's just plain stupid.  There aren't any major superhero movies, let alone any major action, adventure, sci-fi, or serious big budget movies of any type being made nowdays without CGI.  This is like people wanting to see Lou Ferrigno play the Hulk in the Avengers Movie.  It would have been freaking lame.  CGI is here, has been here for almost 20 years since freaking Jurassic Park.  Aaahh, fudge it. Frustration overload.

72

TDKR trailer people should take notes on how to do a trailer exciting for a comic book movie. Amazing.

Hitmarkv on May 3, 2012

73

I'm with the guy who said meh.  Sure this trailer has action, but it pretty much told us the entire story, which isn't all that unique or interesting.  I don't think the movie will be bad, but I still the Dark Knight Rises trailer was far superior.  It built the mystery and suspense while at the same time hinting at things greater than itself. I guess my idea of excitement is different than most, since I found TDKR trailer to be much more exciting than this one.

Jordan Scott on May 3, 2012

74

"The Amazing Spider-Man" hints at things greater than itself, also: The theme is that we all have a piece missing in our lives; how we fill that void is how we define ourselves. Peter, who lost his parents, is quiet, insecure, and Spider-Man's strength is the PIECE he is lacking. Whereas Dr Connor literally embodies the theme.  And it doesn't build mystery? Please, spare me your lazy attempt to discredit this film because you're on Nolan's sack. TDKR is overrated and the trailer put me to sleep; it's obvious this isn't the original film Nolan wanted to make. (R.I.P. Heath)

BeepBeepRichie on May 4, 2012

75

Why can't we like both trailers for what they are, both have sense of mystery but this one was forced to be in your face since everyone was whining that it was the same story which the trailer proved it wasn't. The dark knight trailer also reveals a lot showing that bane will capture batman or wayne due to him being the 1% while he starts what is essentially project mayhem whom is looking for harvey dent or two face who is obviously still alive.

But Spider-Man 3 was so good, I want to see what happened with sandman blowing into the sunset(Sarcasm). I love Raimi, but do not like the fact that he wrote the movie with his brother and before it came out was all confident about it then after it came out quickly blamed it on Sony

Steven Morgan on May 5, 2012

81

Not really sold on the Lizard character (and Dylan Baker was better) or his appearance. But A. Garfield is a great choice, it looks very exciting and seems to have jettisoned the chronic campness of Raimi's versions. Also there's no weepy snaggletooth.

I can only speak for myself, but super hero movies just make the kid inside of me go totally bonkers. I can't help it, I love this genre and have to watch them all.

SuicidalOptimist on May 4, 2012

85

Well...you could write a heap of papers on the "hunger for these superhero movies".  And to be frank, re-boots happen in comics--it's a given, really. Me personally, I like these films because, well, it's just damned nice to see characters I read in comics as a kid come to "life" and look a helluva lot better than the attempts that were made years ago (a couple succeeded, but others....nope).  That said, even though you might be in the minority, you raise a valid point.  And yeah, while the trailer did look impressive to me, I'll wait till the final film to pass judgement.

I'm really digging what I've seen so far and that knife joke made me lol at my desk at work, but I don't think the mythos of Spiderman really had much to do with his parents.  I remember hearing a lot about Aunt May and Uncle Ben during the comics and the animated series, but I don't remember him talking about his parents very much.  If that's his main drive in this film then it may take some getting used to.

Not letting Marvel fool me anymore, it does look like best spidey yet, but still too much boring story like the rest i bet. I dont care about your parents, Aunt May or even Aunt Jemima, i want to see your enemies, and only one Lizard to fight. Its 2012, bring me real enemies!
