New International Trailer for Tarsem Singh's Whimsical 'Mirror Mirror'
After the trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman debuted, it was shortly followed by the first trailer for the competing Snow White film Mirror, Mirror starring Lily Collins as the fairytale femme and Julia Roberts as the evil queen. Sadly, director Tarsem Singh is going in the exact opposite direction than his previous endeavors like The Immortals and The Fall to deliver something more along the lines of Hook but with a lot more silliness. Now we get another look at the film that is clearly intended for the whole family in the form of a new international trailer, and I have to say, I still don't have much interest in this flick. Watch!
Here's the new international trailer for Tarsem Singh's Mirror Mirror, embedded from YouTube:
An exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright, and an evil Queen steals control of a kingdom, in a magical adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal.
Mirror Mirror is directed by visionary Indian filmmaker Tarsem Singh, of The Cell, The Fall and Immortals previously, which just opened. The screenplay was written by Melissa Wallack & Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher) based on the original story by the Brothers Grimm. Relativity Media is bringing Mirror Mirror to theaters starting on March 16, 2012 next year, well before Snow White and the Huntsman arrives in June.

Whenever the VO says "...the motion picture event of the year" you know it is going to be bad.

God, this looks horrid. My kids might be amused by it, though. But, ugh. Couldn't be more different in look and tone from SWATH. I'm jonesin' to see SWATH. Charlize Theron looks awesome as the queen in that one. But Julia Roberts makes me throw up a little in my mouth.

This would look so much better without the jokes...

Tarsem is such a fucking joke. So what if he can arrange a pretty shot? Too bad he slept through Characters and Plot at film school. Also crediting yourself with a singular name is pretty much the height of wankery.

You all watched this trailer after seeing the first... I'm willing to bet you see this movie even if not in theaters. I'll also bet that this movie ends up being charming fun with a focus on the dwarves as loveable characters, leading the movie to not have to be taken seriously yet having great actors and more interesting points of character development, While SWatH will have... Kristen Stewart... Chris Hemsworth again playing Thor... and empty but cool visuals. Can anyone tell me the plot based on that first trailer? Because so far it looks like Chris Hemsworth will be charming while Kristen Stewart attempts to look like she is in love with him by biting her lip, and a lot of Zack Snyder- esque visuals will dominate the action in the movie. also with her meeting the dwarves and being more of a fish out of water, she has no reason to not play the role exactly like Bella Swan... So I'm sorry but I'm looking forward to enjoying myself instead of being a bloated fan boy over visuals and serious action until the movie is released and a hoard of people with no power or point bash something that isn't what they were looking for in the first place.
