Rock of Ages

The first two trailers were full of over-the-top 80's fashion and a soundtrack that would make The Breakfast Club blush, solidifying that it's going to be awesome to Tom Cruise singing his heart out in Rock of Ages this summer along with Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Akerman, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin and more. This jukebox musical with the tunes of Bon Jovi, Journey, Def Leppard and more might have audiences singing in the theaters, but until then, we have a fabulously 80's new poster with all characters Photoshopped to the max. It's not the best, but it has star power and glam.

The international poster for Adam Shankman's Rock of Ages from Andromeda High (via ComingSoon):

Rock of Ages - International Poster

Tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock 'n' roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, REO Speedwagon, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake and more.

Rock of Ages is directed by Adam Shankman, of The Wedding Planner, Bringing Down the House, The Pacifier, Hairspray and Bedtime Stories previously. The screenplay has credits by Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2), Chris D'Arienzo (Barry Munday) and Allan Loeb (Things We Lost in the Fire, 21, The Switch, The Dilemma) and is based on the musical by Chris D'Arienzo that first hit Broadway in 2009. New Line Cinema/Warner Bros are bringing Rock of Ages to theaters on June 15th this summer. Anyone?

I'm going to see this movie on opening day. I want to see Tom Cruise give this performance. This is going to be another great one by him.

Musical Theater is a creative graveyard. Everything the industry produces is trite, unoriginal pap, which most of the time just uses some popular theme with which to stage atrocious over-acting and boring singing. DAVIDPD's comment sums this shitshow up very well - they could care less about the actual music, because they are more interested in flapping about like children. Fuck musical theater.
