The Europa Project

What is The Europa Report, and what's the secret behind it? The mystery is out there. Our friends at Movie Viral discovered a new viral site launched recently for the new sci-fi film The Europa Report, directed by Sebastián Cordero and starring Sharlto Copley, that we just teased with the first look photo over the weekend. It's a sci-fi about six astronauts who are the first to travel three years to Jupiter's moon Europa, not only their long journey, but what they find there. The site is for Europa Ventures LLC, the company that's backing/funding the mission to send these six people on this journey to Europa. So what is the secret?

Here's the URL: As it seems like this was quietly launched to get some viral buzz going, there's not much yet besides a video showing footage from inside the space ship, and some links other sections that are password protected. However, there are some interesting details to pick-up. First, the Latin slogan in the company's title: "Post Tenebras Lux" which means "After Darkness, Light", which I'm sure might play a bigger role in all this than we know. The video also shows them doing normal activities for a bit, then cuts to black with a "Signal Interruption" error at the end. Intriguing stuff so far. Check it out:

Europa Report kind of came out of nowhere this weekend. As clearly introduced: "For decades, scientists have theorized the existence of liquid water oceans on Jupiter's moon, Europa. We've recently discovered new, captivating evidence that these sub-surface oceans do exist and could support life. We've sent six astronauts from space programs throughout the world on a three year journey to Europa to explore its oceans and confirm these findings. We're proud to be at the forefront of the effort to prove the existence of extra-terrestrial life within our solar system, within our lifetimes." That's the premise behind this and it seems to go all the way to them reaching Europa and what they find there, or so it hints. We'll have to see.

The video runs on a loop showing various crew members working, eating, exercising in their quarters. The international cast includes Sharlto Copley, Michael Nyqvist, Anamaria Marinca, Christian Camargo, Daniel Wu and Karolina Wydra, many of whom we get a glimpse of in this. I'm not sure where this will lead or if we're just supposed to watch for updates, of find clues for the logins on the other pages, but we'll keep you updated on this sci-fi viral as well. For now, I suggest watching the video and looking out for anything odd or unique that might be a clue or hint to lead us in some direction. Something seems a bit off about all of it.

When the two younger guys are in their bunk beds for an extended period on the left, the one on top (I think it might be Sharlto Copely) seems to get some bad news from that iPad type TV thing he's holding.  It could just be me grasping at threads, but that's what it looked like.

I can't find much more about his movie! Stale data for about 9 months. They need to market this better to create some buzz...
