World War Z

Briefly: A release update that will upset fans waiting for the zombie apocalypse. Paramount has recently set new release dates (via Collider) for a few upcoming films, and have bumped Marc Forster's World War Z adaptation, starring Brad Pitt, from December of this year all the way to June 21st, 2013. Looks like they're saving it for the summer and giving it time, plenty of time, to finish up. We buzzed about the highly anticipated adaptation of Max Brooks' zombie book being set for this year, but looks like we'll have to wait another six months. Chris McQuarrie's One Shot movie with Tom Cruise was put in its old December 21st, 2012 slot, and Paramount also scheduled Jonathan Liebesman's TMNT movie for Christmas Day in 2013.

I don't think it's a wise move by Paramount. 'I Am Legend' was a zombie post-apocalypse film that released in December and it did very well, because films with a somber mood fit the year end. I assumed 'World War Z' was going to be more like 'I Am Legend' and not like the shit-fest that is 'Resident Evil'.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. I'm serious, you don't.

World war Z is no I am legend.... not closely and not at all

I am Legend has nothing to do with zombies, try reading the book... By the way the movie version with will smith which is the third remake of the novel was a complete shit fest but I guess you liked it huh.

The book "I am Legend" is credited with kick starting the zombie genre and inspiring George Romero. I get what the original poster was trying to say. People need to think about things a little more ciritically and stop trying to correct people. Anyways, I think there might be some merit to the idea of a somber, post apocalyptic flick at the end of the year being a good fit. Anyways, I am not excited for "World War Z" It seems like it will be a more action summer flick than the thoughtful commentary about a world/society and governments in crisis.

thoughtful commentary about a world/society and governments in crisis. ???? shuttup and get yer head out yer arse,,its zombies,, its an adaptation of the book,, jesus wept, youre hopin its goin to be shite,, nob,, i for one hope its quality,,, "thoughtful commentary" fuck off and read it

Actually, the director has stated that it is just loosely based on the book and is actually his own story.

I Am Legend was Vampires man!!! NOT ZACs at all. Read the book.

Braxis1327 on Apr 21, 2012

"I Am Legend" was a joke.  It was not supposed to be a zombie movie.  The novella was an incredible tale about the post apocalyptic world where human beings become the monsters while vampires become the new normal.

Hmmm...For WWZ that may be a bad sign.

Sucks but oh well....On another note Im glad TMNT finally has a Release Date even though I hate the Director!

For those that can't wait, the audio book is fantastic and features voices such as Mark Hamill and Henry Rollins.

For those who are expecting the WWZ movie adaptation to be representative of the book, please do a web search on Marc Forster (the director).  He has stated point blank that the movie will not be like the book.  He stated that he made the story his own, the movie is set during the initial outbreak, Brad Pitt's character is racing time in an effort to stop the plague instead of chronicling the memories of survivors.  Forster has also changed the premise of the infection.  It is not going to resemble the novel much at all.
