The Expendables 2

"You're terminated." Ah, yes, it's been awhile since we had some meta jokes referencing the previous films of Arnold Schwarzenegger from a film in which he himself is starring. There's like plenty more in store when The Expendables 2 hits theaters later this summer, but for now you're going to have to settle for a couple new ones in this one-minute TV spot with plenty of action, and a rundown of all the veteran action stars in this film (and a couple younger ones too) in case you forgot that Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Schwarzenegger were teaming up for the first time to take down Jean Claude Van Damme.

Watch the first TV spot for Simon West's The Expendables 2, via Deadline:

Mr. Church reunites the Expendables for what should've been an easy job, but when one of their men is murdered, their quest for revenge puts them deep in enemy territory and up against an unexpected threat.

The Expendables 2 is directed by British filmmaker Simon West, of movies like Con Air, The General's Daughter, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Purple Mountain and The Mechanic previously. The screenplay was written by Sylvester Stallone, who directed the first one but not this one. Lionsgate is releasing Expendables 2 from Millennium Films / Nu Image starting on August 17th later this summer. You in for this one!?

After seeing the Avengers? I'll pass on this one

Go see the sequel to "Eat, Pray, Love," then. Or better yet, the non-existent follow-up to Scott Pilgram. Nerd.

Good one...

Scott Pilgrim 2 is in negotiations now. Douche Nugget.

Yeah, now showing on G4. Nerds.

"Eat, Pray, Love". Truly the best fictional works that nerds kill for to watch.

That's the shit Sly was talking about. About bad-asses being bad-asses without blinking fireballs. Superhero movies are tainting the action genre. I like superhero movies, don't get me wrong. But I like old school guns and hand to hand combat better.

Yaboykel on May 31, 2012

9

I agree with some of what you say, but I don't think the Superhero movies are tainting the Action Genre. To me, Superhero movies are more of a sub-genre of Sci-Fi, with the action being secondary. Kind of like Sci-Fi and Action got together and had a kid, and that kid was Superhero movie. Granted sometimes the action is more in your face with some of them, but the story is always a Sci-Fi story.

Matthew South on May 31, 2012

10

Sci Fi??? What trailer did you just watch? There isn't anything Sci Fi about this movie... just classic old scholl butt whooping

Bithki on Jun 1, 2012

11

Read the whole conversation if you are going to comment, Yaboykel was saying how Superhero movies were ruining the Action genre, and I was just saying those types of films (Superhero) are more Sci-Fi then action. I never said The Expendables 2 was Sci-Fi. That's just silly talk.

Matthew South on Jun 27, 2012

12

go watch the raid redemption..

After reading your comment? You're a moron.

Daniel Vu Tran on May 31, 2012

14

Two completely different types of movies dude. Don;t know why anyone that likes Action movies would "Pass" on either movies (Unless you are very young and just don't get classic action flicks)

Bithki on Jun 1, 2012

15

The problem for me is that the first movie did not have the charm of those classic action flicks in my eyes, so that's mostly the reason for me to not watch the sequel.

HarryFiddleSticks on Jun 3, 2012

16

Yeah.. definately different that those classic action movies.... still going to watch for sure. Maybe its just seeing them all together and sort of relivimg the past a bit

Bithki on Jun 4, 2012

17

Okay, there completely different movies but its your opinion, just have a relevant one next time.

Marc201072 on Jun 1, 2012

Sorry Marc for not having the intellectual standards as yourself. Must be the reason why you put random numbers after your name.

HarryFiddleSticks on Jun 3, 2012

19

totally your right to pass, but there's no denying that this movie knows what it is and isn't trying to be anything else...

Solo_Calrissian on Jun 1, 2012

20

Thank you Solo for a normal answer on a silly comment that was not meant to be taken serious. Thank you for using your brain.

Agreed. Thanks Solo & Harry

Really only interested in seeing Van Damme kick ass.

SkylerB619 on May 31, 2012

23

Im actually fucking psyched that he's playing the villain 😀 I dont think Ive ever seen him as a villain to be honest..

LosZombies on Jun 1, 2012

24

You should watch No Retreat, No Surrender. One of his first movies and he did play the bad guy. Pretty well too

Big Chad on Jun 2, 2012

25

Sweet! Thanks for the tip 😀

LosZombies on Jun 2, 2012

26

for sure!  I always thought he'd be a good bad guy.  (As a kid I always liked the mean twin better in Double Impact) ha!

really wish this was rated R

Race Bannon on May 31, 2012

28

You can thank Norris for that one

Jason Ip on May 31, 2012

29

A single Chuck Norris roundhouse kick is the equivalent of 17 "holy shits", 81 "god damns", 134 "sons of bitches", and over 9000 "FUCKS"!

Stavi on May 31, 2012

30

there are jokes about norris only because he his a joke. on that same subject bruce lee is no laughing matter.

Chip_Tha_Ripper on Jun 1, 2012

31

A joke? Are you high? (Guess you might be) Norris is one of the greatest all time action movie icons. Of course he belongs here. His early movies were just great and didn't require him dropping the "F" bomb every second to try to be tough, just stood tow to toe with the villian, took his licks and came back for more. The dude is a real man from a tme it it was ok to be a man

Bithki on Jun 1, 2012

32

So awesome!!

grimjob on May 31, 2012

33

Jet li dies then, that's a shame.

wushuchild on May 31, 2012

34

WHAT??  SO is it Jet Li that gets knocked out in this one? That's BS.  Still need to see this movie!

Chris on May 31, 2012

35

I figured it would have been Rourke's character, since he's nowhere to be found.

grimjob on May 31, 2012

36

Not like Li would be an essential part to the story anyway. :/

46

They already said they changed it to R, even though the TV spot says its not rated yet

guest 1235 on May 31, 2012

47

If this ends up PG-13 I wont be going to go see it.

Nuts4you on May 31, 2012

48

Why for god's sake..... It's doesn't always need to be about boobs and dropping "F" bombs. These movie are just adreniline pumping, shooting people, stuff blowing up, chessy one liner have a good time movies

Bithki on Jun 1, 2012

49

If its pg 13 they have to cut down the violence. Thats what people are talking about.

Marc201072 on Jun 1, 2012

50

Well Markie... you must have watched a completely different trailer than I did....cut down on the violence...really?

Bithki on Jun 1, 2012

51

Am I the only one that feels like Hemsworth doesn't belong in that group?... :l

LosZombies on Jun 1, 2012

52

YOu're not the only one...also I think Chuck Norris doesn't belong in this movie. this guy stinks!

thechillerdewd on Jun 1, 2012

53

Chuck is the man. You must be too young to really have appreciated the old classic action movies. Ones where the good guy got his ass kicked then came back swinging stronger the next time Not nescasarily great acting just good old fashion good vs evil and toe to toe kicking butt

Bithki on Jun 1, 2012

54

this movie is rated r avengers was boring for me i already knew they were gonna win i dont give shit bout gys in tights this is a real mans movie unless ur under 18

Sdestrippy on Jun 1, 2012

Well said!!

Bithki on Jun 1, 2012

Every teaser, trailer and TV spot has show that exact same Chuck Norris clip.  I wonder if he's only in the movie for 30 seconds.
