Robert De Niro Joins Michael Douglas' Bachelor Party in 'Last Vegas'?
Yesterday, we told you Michael Douglas is set to star in National Treasure director Jon Turteltaub's upcoming comedy Last Vegas. Apparently having one Academy Award-winner in the cast isn't enough for CBS Films, because Vulture is reporting the studio is in negotiations with Robert De Niro to co-star as one of the four geezers headed to Vegas to celebrate Douglas' bachelor party before he marries a much younger woman. De Niro would play Douglas' childhood friend, and since the two men had a history of falling for the same girl back in their younger days, a new set of problems arrises while they're in Sin City. More below!
Christopher Walken is also in talks for a part, so that would be a hell of a cast if they could pull all of these guys together. De Niro and Douglas are both legends in the business, and I think it's fair to say that any longtime movie fan would love to see them work together for the first time. Last Vegas sounds like a mixture of the forgotten Burt Reynolds and Richard Dreyfuss comedy The Crew and The Hangover, so we'll have to wait and see if screenwriter Dan Fogelman (the writer of the fantastic Crazy Stupid Love) can bring enough originality and wit to the story to let it stand on its own. Thoughts?

Now if they can just get Freeman, Bridges & John Voigt to round out the cast it can be like the Expendables for Acadamey Award winners.

I gotcha. Not in anyway as has-beens but as iconic dudes who can actually act. The big draw of the expendable (IMO) was all these actions heroes teaming up for a movie. You take a bunch of Academy Award winners and do the same thing and you have a movie worth watching. 😉

agreed.....although i really didn't think much of expendables.

i think alan alda would be great as the "straight-laced", neurotic friend in this group!

Pachino, De Niro, Douglas, Walken for the four guys would be perfect. * Walken would be the equivilant but better nuts version of Alan from the hangover. * Pachino would be the equivalent of doug going nuts! but better * De Niro would be the tough guy version of phil * Douglas would be the Phil version but way smoother. this should be made by todd phillips. cameos should include vince vaugh as a pimp dealing drug dealer. haha.
