Russell Crowe Being Lined Up to Build an Ark for Aronofsky's 'Noah'

Noah's Ark / Russell Crowe

Though Christian Bale was the last actor rumored to take the title role in Darren Aronofsky's Biblical epic Noah, the actor never officially became involved. However, as the project moves closer to production, it sounds like casting is finally underway. Deadline has word that Aronofsky has Russell Crowe in mind to play the drunk tasked with building an ark to save the world's creatures from a massive flood. In addition, apparently the director is also looking to snag Liam Neeson for another unknown role. This would mark the first time either actor has worked with Aronofsky, and that sounds like quite the fantastic prospect.

The role for Neeson could very well be the big villain part that was talked about recently, but we don't know much about any of the other roles beyond Noah and the antagonist. Having Crowe face off against Neeson would be quite the match-up and thanks to Clash of the Titans and Gladiator, we know that each of them looks great with a beard. As of now nothing is official, but apparently signs are pointing to a deal being closed for at least Crowe very soon. If that's the case, it sounds like Aronofsky's passion project will finally set sail. Is there a chance Crowe will use the ark as part of his infamous TV show from "South Park"?

I got a little wood while reading this casting tidbit. Unfortunately, not enough to build an Ark with though.

Wait, what? Ethan, please explain this: "Russell Crowe in mind to play the drunk tasked with building an ark". Is this something you read somewhere about this film, or is that your idea about who Noah was? The only time Noah got drunk was way after the flood, so you can't say that he was a drunk tasked with that.

Aronofsky and Alfonso Cuaron take new spirits in cold body of cinema.they broke the rules and go with head in abyss.they are miracle of our time.I like and wish that neeson take the role of Noah.acting of him in role of priest in gangs of newyork was unforgettable and I like to said I wish Daniel day Lewis play the antagonist his great performance in there will be blood in front of the priest was totally miraculous I love this guys i want aronofsky focus on dark side of matter not only on animals I want another perfect storm mix with passion of the Christ I want he work without any prejudies because of holocaust or Zionism I want he going to be told dark side of story of great man that became prophet.all prophets was star and Noah too
