Sean Bean Tapped to Lead 'Devil's Peak' Thriller Trilogy Adaptation

Sean Bean / Devil's Peak

Between Lord of the Rings and the HBO series "Game of Thrones" (not to mention a few other less than stellar titles), British actor Sean Bean has made a habit of dying on screen. However, it sounds like he just might finally survive a film as a lead character as Variety reports Bean is set to lead an entire trilogy of adaptations starting with Devil's Peak, the first installment of the series from Deon Meyer. Bean will play Detective Benny Griessel in the story that follows the aging alcoholic trying to track down a Cape Town vigilante who has taken it upon himself to dispatch with various killers, abusers and other violent criminals.

Sounds like "Dexter" but told from the other side of the fence. After Devil's Peak, the story continues with 13 Hours and 7 Days, and while the plan is to have Bean lead a trilogy of films, the second and third adaptations coming to fruition will likely depend on the box office success of the first film. As of now, no director is attached, but producers include Malcolm Kohll, Ofir Kedar, and Michael S. Murphey, a supervising producer on District 9 and a co-producer on the upcoming adaptation of Dredd (Sean Bean would've been awesome in that flick too). I'm at least interested in seeing Bean take on a lead role, even if the whole alcoholic detective angle seems a bit tired, the story sounds like it could be compelling.

Interesting! Bean is highly underrated. I'd like to know which studio is producing this?

I loved his role in Missing.  He made those first 10 minutes of episode one actually watchable.  Ever since his death the show has been complete garbage.
